I have to disagree knighted. Early in his career yes and that pantsing from Travis Cloke is a standout. But he improved his game then became unbeatable. He has franklin’s measure when he was still good at Sydney and he crushed Tex Walker when he was still a good forward in the GF.

I saw Rance get beaten by Walker multiple times plus Hogan, Cloke, Josh Kennedy, DeGoey in the Prelim in 18 and even the big Doofus from #lolnorf. On the other hand he could shut down Franklin and Hawkins. Also Astbury played on Walker in the 17 GF.

Rance is better than Grimes. Id pick Rance first over Grimes.

Pretty sure Hogan kicked about 2 goals on Rance and took maybe 2 contested marks against him.

Honestly if you can remember the games he was beaten the he has done very well. You've listed max 10 games out of 200.

They are both champions of the club but Rance is the best defender I’ve seen in yellow and black.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Grimes is an A+ defender and champion of the club.

Rance was a generational talent in the same bracket as dusty. They sit on a different level to all the other premiership players of this dynasty.
