Would've been a handy addition a couple of years ago when we needed an upgrade on Morris... :shh

He reminds me of Stevie Morris - a bloke who body works faster than his brain which doesn’t always work on on the ground.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Won't get the plaudits but Mansell is coming along nicely as a small defender. That's two weeks in a row he's kept his opponent quiet. "JJ" did nothing for the Dogs tonight. It's also allowing Baker to play mid and push forward.

Agreed mate.

Also shows how keeping a bloke in the side helps them to develop. Getting better every week. Need to do this with RCD too.

Should have been a free kick but so should of the countless others they missed.

I don’t think it’s reportable.

Agree it's not reportable but had to be a free

And I reckon this one is the perfect example of why we are so angry with the umpires

If that had been the other way, not a doubt in my mind Selwood gets a free

No surprise nothing to see here from the MRO.

Incident assessed:

Contact between Geelong Cats’ Joel Selwood and Richmond’s Rhyan Mansell from the third quarter of Friday night’s match between Richmond and the Geelong Cats was assessed. Selwood approaches the loose ball after it is handballed behind Richmond’s Mansell. As Mansell attempts to retreat for the ball, he is held by Geelong player Shaun Higgins in an attempt to allow his teammate Selwood to contest the ball. As Selwood approaches the ball, he turns side-on and lowers his body to take possession as Mansell reaches for the ball when high contact is made. It was determined by the Match Review Officer that Selwood was contesting the ball and his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.

My issue with that ruling is it wasn’t a loose ball. Mansell beat Selwood to the ball and had taken possession. So, if the ball is loose and you turn sideways and initiate contact with the head it’s play-on?
