“The program is going to look vastly different. Really the focus has been to get blokes back playing footy and enjoying their footy."

🎥 @RichmondVFL coach Xavier Clarke chats ahead of Friday's start to the 2021 @VFL season.

Watch here: https://twitter.com/Richmond_FC/status/1382232103480291329

----------------

Richmond will go into the season with 17 VFL-listed players to compliment non-selected AFL players.

“Our VFL team looks vastly different. Our program looks different.

“We have gone after more younger players this year and also kept Morro’s services. It is fantastic to have that more mature head around.

“(The VFL listed players are) 19,20, and 21 year olds that we can certainly help develop as a VFL program, and they will also complement our AFL boys when they are playing together.”

The coaching staff will include three returning coaches from the 2019 premiership program.

Richmond AFLW coach Ryan Ferguson will take on a match-day forwards role, while Marc Sophoulis will also serve as an assistant.

Steve Morris has stepped into a playing coach role, taking care of the backline. The former Richmond AFL player has also taken on extra responsibility by training VFL-listed players for their extra sessions.

A low-key unfurling of the 2019 VFL premiership flag will take place on-field prior to the first bounce from approximately 11.40am.

Where is Hugo? Wasn’t he named as an emergency for the seniors?

Why dont the club show these games via the internet?

Because they are not allowed to due to broadcast rights

Even more complicated now Kayo is involved....

Quarter time

Richmond        1.5-11
Sandringham   1.1-7

Had a stack of F50 entries but they were more longs bombs to the hot spot and Sandy intercepted them.

Naish intercepts on the wing, goes inside 50 and CCJ is too tall and marks. Goal!  :gotigers

Rich  2.5-17
Sandy 1.1-7
