I think we will need to give Naish a full game now. It will be a good chance to see how he stands up. Also time to look at Coleman Jones. Clearly we are now under pressure and will drop games. However, the flip side is we will finally sample some younger talent. In times like this we should salivate the young players coming through. That's all we can do. Bringing in Caddy is worthless. Love him but we should move on.

Sorry but he is just too outside for me to put it nicely.

To clarify, are you making a suggestion about the firmness of a specific appendage?

 Hmm changes for the week.

CC-J - Reasoning is Nankervis needs a decent chop out and it has become laughable playing Pickett in the ruck. JR and TL could also do with another tall option in the fwd half to take away some of the attention both are copping from multiple defenders every week. It such an obvious thing that needs to happen you really do need to ask what the hell are they the match committee  thinking.

The one alternative would possibly be and its a big reach is play Miller as a kpd freeing Balta up to play kpf. God help us if our kpd's start falling over like the mids. No one to come in with no games to their names. If injuries in this area happen later in the season then at least we have had a look at Miller and given him a taste. If he doesnt work out as a kpd in the game then we can throw him fwd and bring balta back.
I just think it is time to 1 make a statement and 2 look at as many younger options as possible while we are in this situation.

Hugo Ralphsmith to a wing or to the fwd line. Him on a wing gives us a 188cm quick skilful goal kicking mid who can go fwd if need be. When forward well he has shown he has the instincts of a genuine fwd make him the hunter and give him a license to kick goals if we play him there.
It also allows us to play Pickett on ball.

Grimes well he is a no brainer. Id like us to play him loose down back give him the role on any fwd who runs hot if need be including smalls.

Reluctant to drop Mansell but now that Vlastuin and Grimes are back his spot has to go to a running back Atm that option is Short but i reckon he's on short notice pardon the pun.

Would put any of the three small fwds on notice. Castagna's last few weeks have been deplorable fit or not id like to see Stack play and failing that give the hard nut Cumberland a crack.

Last with Bolton out i reckon someone like Dow should come in for him get some freakin games into him depending on injury and amount of games hes played this year..

The entire midfield bar one ot two is injured we are not winning this game so lets make a statement to all the under performers we can.

Its a bit radical but i would not mind seeing the following.

b/ Vlastuin - Miller - Grimes. It almost a the g/f team bar Miller.
hb/ Broad - Astbury - Short/Mansell. Shame we could not combine the two but we need the run and rebound  so went with Short on notice.

C/ Ralphsmith - Pickett - McIntosh. probably the best midfield group we have left including the wingman Ralphsmith.
R/ Nankervis - Martin - Graham

HF/ Baker - Balta - Riewoldt. Jacks job is to roam taking defenders with him. Baker has looked great forward of centre when there.
F / Stack - Lynch -  Dow/Cumberland. If fit prefer Dow atm but i reckon Cumberland would be an upgrade on Castagna. Dow gives us a rotation and Stack cannot be any worse than the smalls we play here every week. Balta changes the entire scope of the fwd half. He has been a bit quite down back anyway its worth a try with all the injuries we have atm.

Int/ Ross - CC-J - RC-D - Houli. Houli because he needs to stand up and show his experience and lead from the front. young team needs experienced leaders. Wont happen but get down and get dirty Bachar.

Ins CC-J- Dow - Miller -Ralphsmith - Stack - Grimes
Out Bolton inj- Edwards inj- Aarts - Castagna - Rioli - Mansell

Doubt the Castagna for MRJ one happens. Also wouldnt surprise me if it’s Martyn and/or Hugo rather than stack and CJ.

We just need to scrape 1 win from the next 2 against the giants and lions. After that we would have played all of the top 9 teams other than ourselves and the eagles. Our draw opens up in a big way after that and it should coincide with getting some players back.

Wouldn't be surprised to see us bring in Caddy and Stack for Bolton and Edwards, pushing Ross inside. We need some bigger, experienced bodies around the contest for a couple of weeks.

Not sure what is going on with Caddy and question his fitness as he would have been lucky to play 1 game in the past 6 weeks including VFL

Yeah, he played against Casey, then missed one and then we had the bye. He's not listed as injured...with Dimma talking about us getting outmuscled, I'd take that as a hint that we aren't bringing in too many skinny kids. Not sure that Stack is ready for 120mins but might be a good sub.

I agree, Caddy rotating through the midfield and forward line makes sense to me, just don’t play him on the speedsters

Caddy is next to useless in the midfield, it'll be a bit hard not playing him on faster players because nearly everyone is faster than him these days and -again- he doesn't  tackle... :shh

Richmond could debut Hugo Ralphsmith this weekend against GWS while Patrick Naish, who has been the medical sub in recent weeks, plus Will Martyn (one game) and Thomson Dow (two games) are all in the mix.

In the Mix: Round 9

RICHMOND

There will be at least two forced changes yet again for Richmond, losing classy duo Shane Edwards (ankle) and Shai Bolton (wrist). The former has at least a month on the sidelines, while Bolton will be out for the next 2-3 weeks after an incident at a nightclub. Dylan Grimes (concussion) should be right for Saturday night's match against GWS, but the key back isn't exactly a straight swap for either midfielder. With Liam Baker already spending considerable time forward, Rhyan Mansell could be the unlucky defensive exclusion. Patrick Naish has now played two games as a sub and is a chance to fill Edwards' spot, while Will Martyn and Hugo Ralphsmith have been in good form in the VFL before last weekend's bye.

Verdict: Edwards, Bolton and Mansell out for Naish, Ralphsmith and Grimes.
