Sorry to say it but I dont think Naish will make it.  Players walked out of his tackles last week like through a wet paper bag.  Maybe if he bulks up in a couple more pre seasons to be able to hold a tackle, but I'd do that from the rookie list I dont think he's AFL ATM.  He is verging on gonski for me.

Why are you sorry?

I don’t think RCD (soft), Naish, Chol, Nyuon, Ross, Cumberland, Martyn, CCJ (soft), Egg, Garthwaite won’t make it.

I also think Astbury, Houli and Cotchin are finished.

I don’t (or never) rate MacIntosh, Castagna, and Pickett

And I’m not sorry about it at all  :rollin

Rather than just name those who need to go id rather look at the spots where there is little cover quality and depth.
Back half
KPD, - Astbury 31 retire, Balta 22 Nyuon 20 and Miller 22. Astbury is shot.  If we cant play Miller with the injuries we have had then id say he is gone. Nyuon has a long way to go and relying on late picks to become quality players is not the way to go about it. I'd say its paramount we target  a mature KPD and use a good pick on A young one as well.

TALL DEF- Grimes 30, Broad 28. Garthwaite 23 no one sees him making it at the top level sort of an in between player. Grimes will be 30 at start of season and Broad will be 29 in april. Realistically need a junior in the system.

MED DEF - Vlastuin 28 Ralphsmith 20. Vlastuin is getting on and is possibly the only decent sized medium defender we have on the list. Ralphsmith may not even play as a defender. We have so called small defenders but we could do with at least one medium.

SML DEF - Houli  33 ret, DES 23, Short 26 he is like Houli and DES an outside reciever with poor defensive skills and his kicking is over rated. Mansell 21 he looks a decent Defender just needs to balance it out a bit more by providing more run. Stack 21 can play the role just need to persevere. we dont need any more small defenders imo. WE NEED TO CHOP A FEW.

Thats just the back half. If Miller is not up to it  Astbury is gone and Nyuon is no where near it yet,  then it shapes up like this

FB:  Grimes - xxxx - Mansell/Stack
HB: Vlastuin  - Balta - Broad/Ralphsmith

The need for a mature KPD smacks you in the face and long term we need a high quality tall pick to come into the system to partner Balta.

If anything the key forward stocks are worse but that a bit later.

Ok I will clarify, granted he tackles well but it looks as though when the ball is to be won he’d rather tackle than win the ball himself.  I’ve also seen him pull out of couple of contests Bellis like when contact was inevitable. Not great signs early and hopefully he can get those things out of his game in the future. I know it’s early but nothing really special about him at the moment to fill me with much excitement.

He lacks intensity but I don't think I've seen 2 moms pull out of a contest.

List rebuild: Tigers should 'rejuvenate' their midfield (Foxsports)

TIGERS SHOULD ‘REJUVENATE’ MIDFIELD

Foxsports
7 July 2021

Richmond has been urged to look to youth to “rejuvenate (its) midfield” at season’s end by targeting emerging on-ballers that have only been recently drafted, or young guns in this year’s draft class.

The Tigers’ finals hopes are in jeopardy and their chances of a three-peat are almost shot after a third consecutive loss saw them drop out of the top eight.

Coach Damien Hardwick has often been working with depleted midfield groups this season, with experienced campaigners like Dion Prestia, Kane Lambert, Trent Cotchin, Toby Nankervis and Shane Edwards all missing at least three matches each this season.

The Tigers are one of several Victorian clubs that have been heavily linked to Fremantle young gun Adam Cerra, who remains unsigned beyond 2021 despite the Dockers earlier this year offering him a four-year deal worth around $750,000 per season.

Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell has also been linked to the Tigers after foxfooty.com.au reported the Hawks ball magnet, under the right circumstances, would be open to being traded to another Victorian club at season’s end.

Power games record-holder Kane Cornes told Channel 9’s Footy Classified Richmond “need to rejuvenate this midfield”, prompting veteran football journalist Caroline Wilson to suggest: “Two words: Tom Green. It’s romantic.”

Cornes said Green, a young gun midfielder contracted to the Giants until at least the end of 2023 and the grandson of four-time premiership Tiger Michael Green, was in the right age bracket for the Tigers to target, adding: “I wouldn’t be going for a 28-year-old in the midfield … You’ve got to go to the draft or got to someone that’s between 19 and 23 years of age.”

Asked if Cerra would be the right fit for the Tigers, Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd told Footy Classified: “I think if Richmond feel they can challenge again, I wouldn’t pay someone $750,000 to come to Richmond. I’d keep my picks and try and see if you can get a Cerra-type paying them $80,000 next year in the draft.”
