The impact of new assistant David Teague

“David brings some new experience and he’s been fantastic already along with our established assistant coaches. He has great experience at West Coast, Adelaide and Carlton and it reminds me of when Blake Caracella started and when Truck (Ben Rutten) came in, they just bring new ideas and new perspective so it’s been really refreshing and good for all of us.” - Peter Burge.

Does Teague get some credit for this?

---------

Richmond is on the cusp of a 40-year goalkicking first this season.

The Tigers are set to have three players kick 40 goals or more for the first time since 1982.

With two home-and-away rounds of the 2022 season to go, Tom Lynch is Richmond’s leading goalkicker on 47 goals, followed by Shai Bolton, 39 goals and Jack Riewoldt, 36 goals.

The player currently in fifth place on Richmond’s goalkicking list for 2022 is exciting, young forward Noah Cumberland, who has 13 from his six games (bearing in mind he spent his entire first game on the interchange bench as the medical substitute).

Across the competition, there are only two other clubs (Geelong & Brisbane) likely to produce three 40-plus goalkickers this season.

no point scoring goals if you let the ball out from our F50, with ease and with no pressure at all out to the other end. Just ask carlton.

what is xavier clarkes role at the club?

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Our problem is the 45⁰ kick back inside the corridor other clubs have used to break us open. If we stop this kick no side can go with us in finals.

Damn, that's what I was gonna say. A forward line in today's footy has two functions: scoring goals and locking the ball in (forward press). No point scoring a bazillion points if we let it out and concede a bazillion plus.

The Stand rule was designed to eff us, no doubt, and Maurice coming in has shown it could partly be personnel, but we leak like a sieve from our forward half in a way that we never did 2017-2020.

We do seem to be getting better at that final pass inside 50 though.

The Teague Train has finally reached finals  ;).

Too bad Carlton hopped off before reaching the destination ;D.

The Teague Train is in the finals.  :)
On the face of it a great performance from the fmr Blues coach as our assistant in charge of offence.
We finished the H & A season on top for points scored.
Having listened to him he's an impressive guy. Big tick.
