Pass mark for 2022?

Foxsports' view:

Finals or fail; Season of judgement: Every AFL club’s pass mark for 2022

As clubs continue to finalise lists and review the season that was, there’s no shortage of pressure to deliver in 2022.

Whether it be getting all the way to the decider or just avoiding the wooden spoon in 2022, every club will have a pass mark in mind to avoid brutal judgment from fans and pundits alike.

Foxfooty.com.au has gone through every club and determined just what that pass mark may be.

RICHMOND

For the first time in nearly half-a-decade, a flag might not be the expectation for Tigers fans heading into 2022. This year’s fall from grace was understandable and there has been a fair bit of a tilt from a list standpoint. With players like Bachar Houli and David Astbury gone there’s a bit less of a known factor about how the Tigers will perform next year, even with the acquisition of Robbie Tarrant. It was a good year from Jack Riewoldt, but how many more of them can he put together? Trent Cotchin has stepped down from the captaincy in a sign of the transition period at the club and he likely only has one more year to play. There’s no shortage of intrigue about Richmond, particulary given the next wave of talent remains a work in progress and took a bit of a blow with the departures of Callum Coleman-Jones and Mabior Chol. Even though it feels like Richmond are at a fork in the road, finals have to be on the agenda again in 2022 despite this year’s result and the talent still on the list (plus the return of Dustin Martin) mean a red-hot run at the flag cannot be out of the picture.

PASS MARK: 12 to 15 wins, win at least one final

If you go out and recruit a Robbie Tarrant, the only pass mark is being there on the last Saturday in September. We haven't done that just to scrape into finals.

Once you get to finals , you have chance. A team can be the best team and they have a bad one , team get a few sick or an injury or two.

If we don't go and get Tarrant who plays KPD? Balta and who else Miller!!!!Please. Regardless of weather we are in a premiership window or not we had to target a MATURE kpd.

The list actually requires potentially another mature type to play the role as not only cover for injuries but to lead the Defense in the magoos.

For what its worth i think its more likely we continue to decline than win a flag and in saying that im happy we have Tarrant.

I am worried this is the case too. Plenty of blokes over the hill and going to the draft is a good idea but none of these kids will make a significant impact for 3+ years.

If the club had traded in a couple of mature inside mids I'd be thinking we have a slight chance if we get lucky and have a good run etc but I suspect our era is finito.

I'm glad we're going to the draft I think it's time to rebuild. We probably will play finals but not win the cup unless we're really lucky regarding injuries or very clever with our resting of players.

We need to go the draft for the next 3 or 4 years and rebuild the list. 5 players a year for 15-20 odd players from picks under 40.
