"Yeh he's a Richmond nuffie. He comes into the club once a month and the boys call him King Brown because he walks around like he owns the joint"

Fair to say Tom's dad and former Cat Paul Brown is converted to the yellow and black now!

I reckon a few of his team mates at the time
thought they owned the joint as well.

Maybe his best game for the club. Impacted in the air which is something he needs to get better at, getting the confidence to leap at packs and leave his man for intercepts.

Think he will be a pretty good player

Against Essendon, Brown had 23 disposals, with seven contested possessions, a game-high and AFL career-high 11 marks, an equal game-high/career-high eight rebound-50s, three inside-50s, equal career-high six score involvements, team-high nine intercepts and 491 metres gained.

Brown has taken a significant step forward in his development at senior level with Richmond this season.

He is averaging 14.3 disposals, 5.0 marks, 3.9 rebound-50s, 2.8 score involvements, 5.1 intercepts and 324.9 metres gained per match.

Those averages are well above Brown’s statistical numbers last year, in what was his first full season of AFL football.

Played well against Essendon. Playing consistently well.

Before last week, he had a possession count of 11,8 and 12 so I would not yet call his footy consistent just yet. He is tracking well and would like to see him consistently winning possession and setting up his teammates which is where he shines.
Wouldn’t mind seeing him pinch hit in forward line as he is a deceptively good mark and as has been stated a lovely kick
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Tom Brown and the Tigers have exceeded 2025 expectations

By RSN
23 July 2025

Young Richmond defender Tom Brown joined Breakfast with Harf on the back of Richmond's back-to-back victories against Essendon and West Coast. He spoke about what he has taken from the season so far and the Tigers' upcoming clash with ladder leaders, Collingwood.

----------------------------------

Speaking on RSN, Tom Brown provided an insight into the four walls at the Swinburne Centre, saying how celebrating the progression of the group has been an important theme throughout the 2025 campaign.

“We celebrate all the growth that we see in our players. We’ve got lots of debutants that we have had this year that we have celebrated,” Brown said.

“Each week we go through the meeting with someone putting their hand up saying what they have loved about the week or something they have celebrated.

“We got metrics that we try to hit each week and stats that we celebrate when we hit those.

“A lot of those lead to us winning games or being in games…just little steps along the way.”

Brown has yet again established himself as a key member of the Tigers’ best 23 this season, appearing in 18 matches, matching his games played total from last year.

The 21-year-old revealed he is embracing being a leader for the younger crop of Richmond players, and ensuring his voice is heard on the field.

“Something that I have worked on is my leadership,” Brown said.

“Just being more vocal out there and having more confidence in myself.

“I know how we want to play, and I can direct it to help others, so that is probably something that has been a massive one in my game because I know it is going to help.

“(Nick) Vlastuin and (Nathan) Broad aren’t going to be there forever, so someone else has to step up, and Sam Banks and myself have probably been leading the way in that, in the backline.”

Richmond enters Sunday’s clash with Collingwood on a two-game winning streak, but Brown says the results haven’t changed how coach Adem Yze approaches the week, with getting better and improving always of the utmost importance.

“He (Yze) is always honest with his reviews,” Brown said.

“We have won the last two weeks, but we haven’t been perfect, and he will show us what is not going well. I think he is being consistent and honest with how he has reviewed each game each week.

“He really hasn’t wavered from who he is and how he goes about things, and I think that has been really good for us, because you want to rock up to the club each day, and it pretty much feels the same and feels good.”
