We need a genuine key forward with the potential to kick an average of 3 or 4 a game. This bloke is not it and looks to be better suited in the backline
I doubt they went too hard

I don’t think there are any key forwards in the game anymore that can avg 4 goals a game. The only player that averaged above 3 this season was Lynch at 3.3.

Sam Edmund claiming the Suns may also do a salary dump.

Edmund was asked by Gerard Whateley: “so, potentially, Suns players who we couldn’t have imagined are on the open market?”

“I think so,” Edmund replied.

GWS likely to target a second-round pick for Bobby Hill, who has formalised his trade request to get to Collingwood. With the Giants set to have a stack of early draft picks this year, a future selection may be more appealing.

Richmond & Geelong go for A graders in their trades. @CollingwoodFC go for blokes struggling for a game!

I'm not bagging the blokes we're linked with, only that we have players just as good already.

A trusted source informs me that Hunter Clark will formally ask for a trade out of St. Kilda #AFLTrade

Multiple sources that are pretty good now. Feels like Clark is gone.

I know Taranto deal is pretty well done BUT what deal would we need to get Jack Steele?

Think you'd want Jack Steele to say he wants to leave St Kilda first

He doesn't,  he's their captain and I'm pretty sure he signed a contract extension either during this season or last season

If you're asking as a hypothetical, then it would cost you at least a 1st rounder and probably a 2nd. Or a 1st rounder and player

Isn’t/wasn’t he a Tiger fan before being drafted? Hunter.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Considering he’s their captain on a long term contract and an absolute gun, I’d think you’d need 2 top 10 picks and then some more picks/player on top.

No way known they'd trade him. If they did they may as well fold the Club.

A very good source informs me that Tom Mitchell will seek a trade to Collingwood officially in the next few days. #AFLTrade

As mentioned in the Norf thread, the AFL has handed Norf freebie 2023 second and third round picks they need to trade away in this draft period for players.

Dimma was asked about Taranto and Hopper on AFL360 last night:

Robbo: [while talking to Goodwin] Are you curious like all of us how they [Richmond] are going to fit in Taranto and Hopper into the salary cap. What's going on?

Hardwick: We're like Goody, we're trying to improve our list.

Robbo: And they're contracted [laughs].

Hardwick: One of them is. They're two pretty good players as far as we are concerned.

Robbo: They are, absolutely.

Hardwick: At the end of the day, you know, we've got great respect for GWS. So we'll deal with those guys and there will be no postering from us. We understand that if these players are available to come to us, we'd love to facilitate it. They will be adequately rewarded.

This may come in handy in our quest to get Hopper.

Clubs allowed to ‘salary dump’ in a major change to AFL trade rules

Michael Gleeson
The Age
September 20, 2022

The AFL has made a major shift in player trading this year, officially allowing clubs to “salary dump”, or trade out players on big contracts for minimal draft return.

The change will allow clubs to more easily get a player’s contract off their books to ease the strain on their salary caps.

The AFL is in the process of informing all clubs of the change in policy which will see clubs able to trade out players on large contracts for minimal draft pick return as long as the other clubs takes over the player’s contract.

Clubs also have the option to do things like bundling an attractive early draft pick with a highly paid player in a trade for just a lowly pick as a way of getting the player’s salary off the books.
