Four field umpires next year says Caro (FC)

"This has been too long coming."

Caro exclusively reveals to Footy Classified that umpiring is set for a major shake-up from 2023, and has flagged that there could be an increase to five or even six onfield umpires within the next five years.

The AFL are an appalling organisation, who wants more free kicks and score reviews in the game. Is more social engineering on the way , it’s not what the fans and members want so why do they keep doing this crap

I don't know how to break this you or anyone else but the AFL don't give a rats about the fans despite what Gil says and has said

The fans are after thought. Outside of keeping the GF on Saturday arvo when in the last few years have they listened or cared about fans

Just look at what's being reported about the likelihood of no Saturday games on FTA television from 2024  :banghead

Lol it's like the health industry.

Dire shortage of all healthcare workers, so lets commission a few new departments here and there with no staff :)


Rather than get more umpires why not just improve the ones we actually have, pay them accordingly, and make the game easier to officiate? Cue the meme of a bloke being thrown out a window.

I would of said even make it 2 but have them on fulltime.
That way they could train together consistently, communicate and maybe get closer on the same page to some consistency in their decision making.
Also bvetter reviews and feedback to the boffins that make up new rules for the F of it.
But who am I to know?
