Walsh to miss round 1.

----------

The Club can confirm Sam Walsh last night underwent surgery to have a micro-discectomy procedure in his back.

He will unfortunately miss the beginning of the 2023 AFL season.

We're wishing Walshy a speedy recovery.

CORNES AND HEALY REACT TO AFL ROUND 1 HEAD-TO-HEAD ODDS

Richmond $1.68 v Carlton $2.20

Healy: “Richmond or Carlton, who is going to win that?”

Cornes: “Hmm, Carlton.”

“Healy*: “Carlton are $2.20 outsiders and Richmond are $1.68.”

Cornes: “Oh, really.”

C: Pickett  Hopper  McIntosh

R: Nankevis  Taranto  Prestia

Take a bet with me then.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Zac Williams suspected ACL. So that’s Walsh and Williams who’ll be missing from their midfield round 1.

Confirmed

Out for 12 months

Not that I rate him that highly. On incredibly good coin though  ;D

I think he’s a good player, they definitely over paid for him though. Certainly weakens their midfield now, not sure who replaces them but their rotation is weaker without Walsh and Williams.

If we can contain Cripps (easier said then done) we should comfortably win the midfield battle.

Looks good, Stripes  :thumbsup.

Hopefully, the coaching staff don't stuff Balta around this year trying to turn him into a forward. His best footy is as a key defender and we'll need him back down there anyway against Carlton's 3 talls.

Like the team but feel like we should swap out Baker for Broad in that defense given Carlton’s height. I’d like more pace on the wings which i have previously mentioned but apart from that - team looks good.

New faces: Your club’s round 1 bolters

The clock is ticking to round 1 and some clubs are in better shape than others.

Paywall: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/news/afl-2023-the-lowdown-on-every-clubs-preseason-preparation-as-the-real-deal-appears-on-horizon/news-story/f10dd14d77ec3cf996d170c5e74b225f

I can't read it as it's behind a paywall. Any mention of a bolter for us?
