some really important players will be missing to our structure. The biggest outs are pickett and tarrant

expecting to lose this one.

our management of players in the offseason so far has been a disaster.

This is the AFL's predicted round one side:
B: Dylan Grimes, Noah Balta, Nathan Broad
HB: Liam Baker, Nick Vlastuin, Daniel Rioli
C: Kamdyn McIntosh, Dion Prestia, Judson Clarke
HF: Shai Bolton, Tom Lynch, Trent Cotchin
F: Jack Riewoldt, Dustin Martin, Maurice Rioli jnr
Foll: Toby Nankervis, Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper
I/C: Ivan Soldo, Thomson Dow, Noah Cumberland, Tylar Young
EMERG: Samson Ryan, Tyler Sonsie, Rhyan Mansell, Hugo Ralphsmith

I would replace Soldo with Ryan, Rioli Jnr with Sonsie (if fit) and Tylar Young with Miller.
I wouldn't risk Prestia under any circumstances although he could get injured eating a sandwich.

Knowing you , player management is going to be your weekly complaint for the entire season

So the following question is fair

To quote you “our management of players in the offseason so far has been a disaster”

Player management is obviously an area of expertise for you and a field you are experienced in

So I will ask (and hopefully learn from this), what would you have done differently

Don’t hire the 2IC of a man who has stuffed us in the soft tissue department for 2 years running in that department. That’s a start.

After watching what Melbourne did to us you can bet they will get Dekoning up fwd as much as possible.

Mcay 204cm who matches up on him DeKoning 203cm who goes to him. From what ive seen Young is not an answer and i have me doubts about Balta as well. Broad and Grimes will probably have to go to the shorter Silvagni and Curnow.

If i was voss id be learning from the demon lesson  and try to replicate it.

So - as Damo said you’ve indicated you’re somewhat of an expert on player management - what specifically has Luke Meehan done that is so unique which has brought about this so called increase in soft tissue injuries?

Give something substantive and not some throw-away comment. Specifically, if you were the Physical Performance Manager of the Richmond Football Club, what would you be doing differently that would have averted this so called disaster of injuries?

Last I checked every team has injuries as part of pre-season.

A watch on Carlton’s Jesse Motlop for the season opener v Richmond.
Has been dealing with a calf concern, managed recently at training. Blues hopeful he’ll be there.

Sometimes too much focus on the negatives you have been dealt can rob you of the chance to win.

We can match Carlton in the middle and even win the centre clearances so if the ball is heading into our forward line more often than not we need to focus on making sure that

our forward line is fireing on all cylinders.

The backline will just have to do the best that they can.

With Tarrant confirmed out, then Miller has to play in defence.
I agree.

Miller has been playing defence in the vfl for years and is pretty cool under pressure.
He had to help us as ruck/forward at times last season but that only shows his versatility and his ability to adapt quickly if required.

How young has become the Tarrant option ahead of Miller is a mystery.
The club that keeps giving.

To think ppl incl the media themselves want a shorter season, 5-6 more of the media talking rubbish to stay on the airwaves... Hard pass!
