Says play the kids then writes an essay about how none of them have the consistency of Harley Reid

Pfffttt Really.
Im all for playing kids knowing they will struggle at times and a lot of the time maybe not up to the standard. Fmd that is a given yet i say play em. Why is that. If you cannot work that !!!!!

why sugar coat this situation play em but why talk about them as being something more than they are.
Why do we have to build em when they have not done a lot.

Nope i dont need em to be winning undeserved rising star nominations to keep playing them. Nope  im happy to play em warts and all because that is where we are at.

When will supporters learn to not build players up to something they are not only to tear them down when they don't meet expectations. FMD it happens all the time.

You forgot to read WP's post  :lol

But I agree with most of that. It's just that you advocate playing the kids and then jump on here and say "well they haven't done anything yet!!!".

It's the pre 2017 Clawski cycle all over again. You call for kids to play and then a few years later you call for them to be delisted. You are literally never content as a supporter and it's just bloody miserable.
Yep i apologise have deleted that comment.

I pretty much do it with all of our kids. Rarely call for their heads in their first three or four seasons unless they show themselves to be out right duds.
But i do point out their foibles and what they need to improve on.

Wp said he had a real consistent year and deserved a rising star because of it. I disagreed i dont think he has played to a consistently high standard and its something he needs to work on.

Has he played a game or two to warrant a rising star nom? maybe but that depends on how well others have gone those weeks.

That’s fair crawski. Would say he looks like he has enough attributes to make it. Consistency is the key.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Fair. i have been fair right thru this thread apart from the first post which was more a crack at the club and its drafting than Seth.
I retracted that comment after watching a bit of him. Had a debate with you about where we should play him and have only been positive until the WP post.
Funny as soon as you say something that can be construed as a criticism and a negative people only see the negative and jump up and down.

Seth Campbell has signed on at Richmond until the end of 2026

https://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/1635444/campbell-commits

The 19-year-old made his debut in the Opening Round against the Gold Coast and has been a mainstay for the season, playing 20 games.

The Tasmanian, who missed most of his debut season in 2023 with adductor and leg issues, has averaged 11 disposals and two tackles per game.

Campbell’s endurance, strong decision-making, and foot skills make him suited for a wing and half-forward role, though he has also had some exposure through the midfield this year.

The youngster said he had loved his time at Richmond and was excited to see what the future would bring.

“I have definitely played more games than I thought I was going to, but with the injuries and everything that has happened, it has become an opportunity for us young boys,” he said.

“I feel like a few of us have stepped up and played our role the best we can and had our opportunity, which has been really good.

“There is definitely a lot of young talent at the moment at Tigerland, and I think we are just getting better and better.

“I think over the next couple of years, we are just going to keep growing and we will be really competitive.”

Richmond General Manager, Football Talent Blair Hartley said Campbell had taken huge strides in 2024.

“After an injury-interrupted first year with us, Seth has taken his opportunities with both hands this season,” Hartley said.

“To play essentially a full season of AFL football this year will hold Seth in great shape in the future as he learns physically and mentally the demands of elite football.

“Seth is a talented kid with a great work ethic, so it will be exciting to see what he can achieve across the coming years.”

Think a few people blew their loads early over this bloke - he's actually not that good....fumbly, panicky, poor decision maker, makes a lot of unforced errors...another who can't tackle and lacks physical presence... :shh

No, you've got it wrong.

He's all of those things, just tired at the end of the year, carrying more than a kid his age should.

Yep was poor yesterday but don't think there would many on here who'd of thought he would play 20 odd games in just his 2nd year on the list. Remembering that he missed most of last year with injury

Plenty of upside, reckon he is a future winger

Other players who played yesterday deserve far greater criticism than Thompson. For example Hopper who played a really poor game.
