Reebok rumours have appeared on various websites. Have they signed with us for next year? Anyone in the know?

If this is true I will be a bit peeved because about 3 weeks ago I spent $220 on a new jacket ( it's an excellent jacket btw) plus I'v bought a new polo this season (even though I didn't like that desgin) and they'll become out of date.

But from a marketing perspective I've always been of the opinion that when it comes to apparel if you are the only club sponsored by a company (like us with hummel) and there quality is good that you have a distinct advantage in promoting your brand because your merchandise can be unique.

I think the biggest hurdle we've had this season with our gear is the polo in particular looks ordinary colourwise. The screen printed logos are a new concept to Australia (but the norm in Europe) and looks cheaper than they are. I have it on good authority that to screen print costs more than to embroid. But if Reebok is the new apparel sponsor we better get used to the printed on logos because that's what they do too

also....

Reebok currently sponsor Freo & North. A long time ago they sponsored the Bombers.

No comment from the Club at this stage but an announcement will be made in the next month or so as to the arrangements for both the Tiger Den and apparel sponsor going forward.

From same BF post:

"Reebok will be the gear sponsor next year and beyond, replacing hummell. They will also assist in fitting out the new gymnasium."

Reebok, one of the world’s top sporting brands, has joined forces with Richmond.

The Tigers have signed Reebok as their new apparel partner on a two-year deal, which will take effect from the end of the 2006 season.

Reebok, which was founded around the same time as the Richmond Football Club in the late 19th century, has long enjoyed a reputation as an innovator in the global sports arena.

“I’m very pleased to announce Reebok as our new apparel partner for the next two years,” said Richmond CEO Steven Wright.

“Reebok is a global brand, with a very strong presence in the sporting and leisure industries and we are excited about the technological opportunities they’ll be able to provide our club.”

The Managing Director of Reebok Australia, Michael Hendler, said Richmond was an ideal fit for Reebok to be associated with.

“Reebok is delighted about the new partnership with the Richmond Football Club. We are proud to be associated with an AFL club that has such a rich history and bright future as the Tigers, and look forward to sharing many successes together.”

Meanwhile, Richmond has also confirmed that its retail store at Punt Road, the Tiger Den, will return to a situation of being managed by the Club.

“I’d like to acknowledge and thank our existing apparel partner, Concept Sports International, for the support they have given us over the past four years,” Wright said.

Browny wears reebok boots.

You can checkout some of the range on reebok's site. They already sponsor Freo and the Roos: http://www.reebok.com.au/contents.php?c_id=14
