We have enough quality in the team to beat Sydney.  Their FB and CHB will both be out so a small forward line is not so much of an issue.

What a fantastic opportunity to play one of our young tall fwds alongside JR.
Would love to see them play Bradtke ready or not. with Ryan having to ruck by himself id be play Miller as the fwd/ruck giving Ryan a good chop out.

Would be over the moon to see a fwd set up of
HF Sonsie - Bradtke - Cumberland
FF Miller - Riewoldt - Clarke

Bradtke had surgery to his broken hand so out for a while.  Will have to Bauer.

Could be good to have Bauer mentored by Jack. Might become more of a team player.
Yeah we're already going to vote for him mate, you don't need to keep selling it.....

Ah, so Bauer isn't a team player at the moment.

You heard it here first.

And you say Bauer isn't a team player because?

Did not say he isn't a team player FFS.

I said he might become more of a team player. Lots to learn from someone like Jack R

Lots of our talls injured.
Not sure how people view Ryan but imo he is first and foremost a ruckman. I know the club view him as a fwd first second ruck and imo that is wrong. he does not have the speed or agility for a fwd.
He still lacks physically imo and thats why he gets to play fwd and second ruck ATM.

For mine at 206/103 he is the logical player to take over from Nankervis given the injuries. He does need a back up though crazy to expect him to carry the ruck on his own at this stage of development enter Miller.

Bauer given all other tall fwds are injured not that we have many anyway i would just throw into the deep end for a few weeks and see what sort of return we get. Nothing to lose now.

Team this week to go something like this

Vlastuin - Young - Grimes
Mansell - Balta - Rioli

Ralphsmith - Martin - Pickett
Ryan - Taranto - Bolton

Sonsie - Riewoldt - Cumberland
Miller - Bauer - Clarke

Cotchin - Hopper - Prestia - Baker - McIntosh

Given the swans will be missing both McCartin brothers as well as both Buddy and Reid, wouldn’t be against lining up smaller for Friday night.

In the fwd line, Jack as FF and Dusty/Cumbo as the CHF. Ryan can rotate through there when given a spell from ruck duties.

In the back line just roll with the same guys in Balta, Young and Grimes.

Would probably include Miller as a utility to just help out on whatever line is needed - ruck, def, fwd.

Team Tips:

Two big injury blows to Tom Lynch and Toby Nankervis leave key voids at the Tigers, while Jack Graham suffered hamstring setback, too. Jack Riewoldt and Trent Cotchin should come straight back in, while Jayden Short is still at least another week away with a calf issue.Richmond is likely to turn to Ben Miller, who had 14 disposals, one goal and 32 hit-outs in the VFL,for ruck/key forward support alongside Samson Ryan.

Any OERites keen to strap on the boots?  :-\

-----------------------------------------------------------

The injury ravaged Tigers have 15 players on their injury list and face the prospect this week of having no Richmond-listed player playing in their VFL team.

There are presently likely to be four fit players outside the starting 22 selected to take on Sydney on Friday night in Adelaide.

The AFL team would typically take four travelling emergencies for an interstate game and with the Richmond VFL side playing at the same time as the AFL team the Tigers might not have any players left for their VFL team which will be fully reliant on top up players. There might be one AFL player at best.

Jack Riewoldt, who was rested from the weekend’s loss, will come straight back in at full-forward to replace Lynch.

Maurice Rioli jnr is likely to make a quick return to the senior team after being dropped last week. Jack Ross and Thomson Dow have had reasonable form in the VFL and will be in contention to be picked.

With Nankervis out, the Tigers will look at a range of options from 206cm forward-ruck Samson Ryan the obvious first choice. But Richmond have always been inventive with their rucks, with Marlion Pickett often being used as a second ruck.

Ben Miller and Noah Balta have both been used in the ruck in the past as well.

Key backman Josh Gibcus is closing on a return to playing, possibly after the Melbourne game in round six, but given he has not played football it would be a question of how soon he is brought into the senior team.

Nathan Broad is two weeks into his four match ban for a sling tackle so will be available after the Melbourne game.
