Mansell experiment is over let's not do the same as we did with George.Hugo is not good enough and Clarke needs a spell.Vaustin needs a dressing down.

Didn’t Dion hint it’s his turn to get managed?

OUTS: MRJ (inj), Young, Cotchin (managed), Hugo (sub)

INS: Broad, Sonsie, Graham (if fit) and Ross as the sub

If Graham isn't right to go, time to debut Banks

Young dropped I think Young plays until Tarrant comes back.

Young dropped I think Young plays until Tarrant comes back.

Forget the last qtr

Prior to that Young contributed (cost us) 3 goals. The one in the first was just a basic school boy error. Punching a ball forward rather than punching through for a behind.

It is not surprising that it didn't matter who a Young was on Melbourne directed their forward entries through his opponent

I think he needs a rest and with Broad back he goes out IMHO

I'd back him in (Young). It's a learning opportunity and it will get pointed out in the review.

He won't get better playing VFL and has shown enough at AFL level.

Agreed, showed he is inexperienced at the level and some of his by-play was a little immature and showed he was affected by his performance. But he looks like he’ll be a decent defender and won’t get better in the 2’s.

Agree, he's also playing in an undermanned backline.

I'd keep playing him.

I think with rucks out, he has to play especially given that the coaching panel will explore Balta flexibility. Which I don't agree with.

Personally think Young and Balta need to play maximum game time down back as KP they are our future KP defenders. Most clubs now have 2 monster forwards and we can't afford to play Vlastuin or Grimes on big bodies as they aren't capable. Broad is best when he runs out of the backline. His errors didn't stand out to me anywhere near as much as our players slipping over which cost us more goals than anything else I thought, Young being one of them.

In the Mix: Round 7

Given the Tigers only played on Monday night, the extent of Maurice Rioli jnr's hamstring injury is not yet known.

Tyler Sonsie was the hold-over emergency in case of injury, and did not play at either AFL or VFL level, while Jack Graham (hamstring) is closing in on a return against Gold Coast.

Nathan Broad is available for selection after a four-week suspension for a sling tackle, and while Tylar Young performed fairly steadily in his month-long period at the top level, he may be the one to give way – or substitute Hugo Ralphsmith – to allow Broad to return to the 23.

My outs at this stage. Thought Prestia was just starting to show a bit so im happy to rest Cotchin this week although Cotchin did some nice things.,
Any way one of them, McIntosh, R/Smith, Rioli, Vlastuin, with Grimes again on notice.

Miller to defense and Young forward lets at least try it.I just dont see it with Young. I don't think there is much improvement left in him to be honest. Why Miller was subbed out last week is beyond me. Bauer into the team as a tall fwd and Banks to a wing. Vlastuin dropped bring in Dow or Ross. Ross only if he is played as a ball winning mid.

Team lets see.

Grimes - Miller - Mansell.  FFS play Mansell in his right role if he fails then so be it.
Rioli - Balta - Broad.

Banks - Martin - Pickett. We get best value out of Dusty as a mid by some margin.
Ryan - Taranto - Prestia

Sonsie - Riewoldt - Bolton
Bauer - Young - Cumberland

Hopper - Baker - Short.  from  Dow - Clarke - Ross - McIntosh.

Last we can rest Ryan with either Balta or Miller and role Young back while Ryan is resting.

Meanwhile, ruck Ivan Soldo could return this Sunday to face Gold Coast after recovering from plantar fasciitis.

How about giving Bauer a run? Hasn't he beaten some good players down back in the ressies as well as taking plenty of grabs to go along with near on 20 touches.. I'd be bringing him in.
