List management: Keep, trade or delist?
« on: May 11, 2023, 11:23:51 AM »
Below foxsports.com.au has ran through every club’s most intriguing players set to come off contract this year.

RICHMOND

West Australian defender and restricted free agent Nathan Broad is reportedly being courted by the Eagles, according to AFL journalist Damian Barrett. Given Broad has already won three flags at the Tigers, could he be tempted by a big rival offer? Dylan Grimes and Kamdyn McIntosh can become free agents and Toby Nankervis, Noah Balta and Jack Graham are also out of contract. It leaves uncertainty around several key pillars in Richmond’s defence, while the South Australian Graham met with Port Adelaide last off-season. Club legends Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt remain without deals too as they approach the end of their careers, even though the latter leads the Tigers’ goalkicking.

Correction: Grimes just re-signed for next year.

 :facepalm

If the media are going to write stories like this the really should do some fact checking first

Jack Graham has hit a trigger clause in his current contract that gives him a contract for 2024

So take him off the list

So really that just leaves

Broad
Nank
McIntosh

Jack
Cotch

Don't think the later are a concern, nor do I think is Nank. Broad and KMac who knows.
Go Tigers!

Riewoldt, Cotchin and Tarrant will retire.
McIntosh and Ralphsmith should be traded; and
Mansell should be delisted.
I would only keep Dow and Pickett from that group.
Keep all the rookies except for the Basketballer who has less chance of making it than me and I've just hit 40.

This year is not the year to have a clean out although i think it is time. Simple reason is we have traded out of the first round already and we really need quality picks to start the rebuild off.

As it is i reckon for starters obviously Castagna is gone and i think Riewoldt, Cotchin and Tarrant need to retire.
Colina and Nyuon delist both are only rookies anyway. Mansell delist.

Definately looking for better than McINtosh Soldo and Short so would offer them up to get back into the draft Would also be looking at offers from clubs if they were interested in Dusty. Broad if he wants to go would also look to d and i think Baker would get us decent trade or pick.

If in Dow, Cumberland and Ross boots id be looking for more opportunity else where not that dow and Ross  would generate great interest imo.
For now happy to keep them another year.

Others i have concerns about are MRJ, Miller Young.

Its a long list but my perspective is we have run our race and it is time to go the full rebuild because  imo with the talent below the older blokes who are not far way from being gone anyway is not good enough.

That's total years on our list. Remember they were both drafted originally onto the senior list. Miller was drafted in the 2017 National draft at pick 63. Biggie hasn't been on the rookie list for 4 years. He was pick 54 in the 2019 National draft before being delisted and redrafted in the 2021 rookie draft at pick 7. This is only his second year on our rookie list.

Whatever the obvious point being made was they have been around longer then the two seasons you make it appear.
In my view it looks even worse that they have been demoted backwards to the rookie list.

Alright how do we get back into the draft/acquire young talent.
We have few players we can/should trade that would get us 1st round picks but we may have to lose a couple to ensure we don’t completely bottom out in a few years. A really quick overhaul of our young players on the list is an urgent issue imo because this group will not takes us forward.

Also agreed but I’d take anything for him and a few others at this point.. get as much draft capital as possible
