Our set up against France was to defend and cut off the supply to their front three. Even Nabbout was critical in wearing Kante. We broke through in the second half but just didn’t have the class to score. Reckon it’s exactly the same plan. Suffocate Erikson until we know we have the ascendency then go for the kill.
Sounds like a good plan :thumbsup.

The Aussies should pin this comment from the Danes on their lockers:

Reckon the draw of the WC is rigged like the Champions League?
Of course it's rigged. It's FIFA!  :lol

FIFA wants the host nation to reach the knockout stage to keep local interest up. So they give them top seed in Group A which means they avoid the top ranked nations.
See ‘South Korea’, 2002.

Can't wait until they let us host a WC & rig it for us.
I work in Africa and they were taking the pee out of me for saving Africa.......

Earliest we'd get a chance to host would now be 2038 or 2042  :-\.

2022 - Qatar
2026 - North America (USA/Mexico/Canada)
2030 - 100th anniversary = South America (Uruguay or combo bid with say Argentina).
2034 - Europe
2038 - Asia/Africa?
2042 - Africa/Asia (whoever missed out in 2038)
2046 - Europe

If/when it expands to 48 teams we’ll probably lose any chance anyway. Reckon then it will be shared between countries to have enough stadiums and our region is just too big even if shared.

VAR = two wrongs make a right :yep. That's why people think it's a joke but we'll take it after what happened to us against France.

A tale of two halves that first half. Poor lethargic first 20 minutes before we woke up and got on top in the last 20 minutes. Very open game as both sides aren't showing much defence on transition which is great for Rogic & Leckie (who is having a blinder). Only our final touch has denied us another goal. Robbie, whose touch has been off, fluffed a chance in the box not going first time.

Can’t buy a goal. We absolutely dominated that second half. As a country are in dire need of quality forwards.

Not being able to finish off our chances cost us a win. We were the better side in general play but that means nothing if you can't score. When Nabbout went off with that dislocated shoulder, I would've brought Timmy on instead of Juric. Even an older Cahill with his class could've made the difference in the box.

Anyway, we now need to beat Peru and rely on France knocking off Denmark (which they should if they take the game seriously).

Cahill is an interesting one. Very little game time in two years. Maybe Bert thought he was too much of a gamble? Though we were crossing it in all game which suited Cahill more than Juric.

Arzani was getting teamed as soon as he came on. Going to be a player.

It was 16 crosses to 8. I agree with the Danish guy. Why have Cahill in the squad if you're not going to bring him on when the game is suiting his aerial strengths in the box?!
