I guess one thing we can claim is we only lost to the eventual World Cup finalists - Argentina and France  :-\. If Argentina wins then it will be similar to 2006. Knocked out by the eventual World Champions.

Messi gets his World Cup.

Crazy game in the end. Went from Argentina looking like coasting to a 2-0 win with France not even having one shot to an unbelievable last 15 mins of normal time (2-2), extra time (3-3) and then penalties. Mbappe stiff to score only the second hattrick in a World Cup Final and still lose.

ps. So, just like 2006, the Socceroos were knocked out of the tournament in the Round of 16 by the eventual world champions.

Correct MT.

the best game of football/soccer you will ever see in your life. I love my afl but we have absolutely nothing compared to that especially with the way the afl compromising everything.

FIFA should be applauded. There is no more dives or very little and for those that run the gauntlet a yellow card awaits.

Also so much for the woke who complained about Qatar hosting. Well It was by far the best WC ever seen. Much better than than i went to in Brazil. Outside of watching Timmy Cahill v Holland in that famous 3/2 match that had nothing on this WC from a soccer perspective. Obviously atmosphere a lot better that that hole.

Shame the A league is useless. If only soccer was propped up like the afl is.

Messi GOAT in the same category now as Tiger, Fed, Lebron, Dusty etc Game over.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Barely six months after forming a crucial part of Australia's World Cup campaign, Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy has announced his retirement from all forms of the sport.

His last injury playing for Celtic affected his performances. He was in career best form prior to that not only at Celtic but also for the Socceroos during the World Cup. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement, Aaron :clapping.

Matildas won 1-0 over Ireland via a penalty. Ordinary performance in the final third without Kerr (calf). Take the 3 pts and move on.

Ireland played an extremely boring ultra defensive game for 3/4 of that match, regularly played a deep 5/5 or 5/4/1 defence regardless whether they were attacking or defending.

By sitting so deep in their half even when attacking they cut off our speed on the wings with Vine, Carpenter etc
