Socceroos / Matildas / World Cup / Asian Cup
« on: June 05, 2006, 03:09:57 AM »
It was only a friendly (although our tackles weren't friendly lol) but way to go Socceroos this morning. 1-1 against Holland was a great result especially after how badly we were in the first half and being down to 10-men for the last 30 mins. No Kewell either. How good was Schwarzer and Timmy Cahill  :bow.

With Kewell and Skoko to come back in we're a real chance to get to the second round if we can avoid those brain implosions in defence and make sure Viduka never takes a penalty ever again  :-\.

Only 5 days to go!

I dont think the Aussies have the calibre to roll Croatia. I think they will bully Japan into a result but the Cros are damn good at what they do. At the end of the day, the Aussies rely on too few to do the job. We saw Bresciano down on form today and well the midfield for me was terrible.

Croatia is a good side and like the physical stuff as much as we do but they are a step down from Holland. It wasn't until Cahill came on that we sparked up in the midfield. We were also missing Kewell and Skoko who would be in our best 11.

We were owned and intimated in the first half and were lucky not to be 3 goals down. I felt we tightened up after halftime and were starting to trouble Holland up until Wilkshire on a yellow card already had a brain implosion and got himself sent off Tiatto/Muscat style. Holland's defence looked shakey when we got into the last 1/3.

I think we'll miss out on the 2nd round. Brazil and the Cros are favorite.

Moi I think they're a big chance. The Argies have a very solid team this year. All they need to do is forget about the pressure put on them by their supporters and they should give it a good crack. In the past they have been noted for choking but I think things are different this time round. :pray

It starts tonight so a bit late to organise a sweep. Tiga's got a OER Dreamteam comp going though

You get to choose 15 players but only 2 from any one country. The likely winner will come from the big European nations and Brazil and Argentina.

They've got the group of death along with Argentina and Holland and Montenegro just gave Serbia the flick lol.

Go the Aussies  :thumbsup but making the second round will be a major achievement. A soft spot for Italia (heritage) but I don't think they're good enough this time around. The Germans at home will be tough to break down so they're my surprise tip provided Ballack can stay fit.

Careful Ramps, If Serbia and Montenegro Win, you'll have all the letters to spell 'Sam Newman'.  :scream  It could open a portal to hell. Then again it could mean nothing.
No pressure, but you could hold the future of the world in you're hands so choose wisely.

Germany-Costa Rica 4-2
Poland-Ecuador 0-2

Ill call that Costa Rica will go through here....they have some quality players in the side, mainly Mr.Centeno the ex-AEK midfielder and ex-OFI power forward Ronald Gomez.

Jump on the Italians.....Trappatoni is long gone and they finally have a decent coach. This is our year....
