3-0 at Half-time. Qatar doing a Spud and putting everyone into defence to limit the damage  :wallywink.

Melbourne proves it's the sporting capital again  :thumbsup.

A bit of a dull second half once Cahill  :bow and Kennedy were substituted and we lost our height advantage up front but 3-0 is a good win in anyone's language. Next up China away at altitude on March 26 which will be tougher.

Not on Free-To-Air. On Foxsports 2.

0-0 at Half-Time. Bresciano had a great chance to score but hit it straight at the keeper. Socceroos are playing with no recognised striker as Archie Thompson had to go off with a knee early on :-\.

0-0 at full time.

Schwarzer saved a penalty with 2 minutes to go. A good result for the Aussies away from home with effectively almost a B-side.

Aussies had the best two chances of the game and just for the record in my opinion was not a penalty. Still a quality result for the Socceroos.

We're use to dodgy penalties  :whistle.

As long as the Socceroos win at home and at least draw away then they'll get through to the next stage. So on track so far.

Socceroos lost 0-1 to Iraq in Dubai early this morning. The Iraqis are apparently in trouble for charging Aussies $100 for a ticket while only charging Iraqis $6.

Team     Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
Australia 4   2 1 1  4   1   +3   7
Qatar      4   2 1 1  3   3    0    7
Iraq        4   1 1 2  2   4   -2   4
China PR 4   0 3 1  1   2   -1   3

Two games to go. Top two go through to the last qualifying phase.

The last 2 games the Aussies have played crap. Lucky not to lose the first Iraq game as well that they won. On current form they'll be lucky to qualify. I guess that's what you deserve when you aim for draws instead of wins  ::).

The Socceroos are through to the final qualifying stage after winning away in Doha overnight.

Qatar      1
Australia 3    (Emerton 17', 56' and Kewell 75')

Team     Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
Australia 5   3 1 1  7   2   +5  10
Iraq        5   2 1 2  4   5   -1    7
Qatar      5   2 1 2  4   6   -2    7
China PR 5   0 3 2  2   4   -2    3

The Aussies play China and Iraq plays Qatar in the last group game so we're already through to the final 10-team qualifying stage.
