Ellie out for potentially another month with a crack in her fibula  :-\.

Richmond AFLW Injury List:

Unavailable

Jess Hosking, ankle (TBC)

Charley Ryan, foot (1-2 weeks)

Meagan Kiely, back (2 weeks)

Ellie McKenzie, ankle (2-4 weeks)

----------------------------------------

Jess Hosking, ankle

"During a contest in Saturday’s match against GWS, Jess left the ground with ankle soreness and did not return to the field. In further assessment during the week, it has been confirmed she has a moderate grade syndesmosis injury. We are working on her return to play plan in consultation with our doctor and assessing whether she will need surgery."

Ellie McKenzie, ankle

"Ellie has a small fracture on her fibula, which over the past few weeks we have carefully been assessing to see how it settles. Given her importance to our team, we wanted to give her every chance to get back as soon as possible. It is still monitored by pain at the moment, but we will be looking to ramp her training up in the next week, with the view to getting her back playing within 2-4 weeks."

Meagan Kiely, back

"Meagan is back training but still very much day to day for how her back presents. She is feeling good this week, so we are hoping she continues to progress in a way that we can expose her to more variables at training next week. Once we get a consistent week of training into her, we will know how she will present for exposure for match sim and then availability for selection. Hoping for a return in two weeks."

Charley Ryan, foot

"Charley is full training and we are really happy with how she is tracking. She has some final hurdles to tick off but we are hoping to make her available for selection in the next week or two."

Round 4 Preview

Carlton v Richmond at Ikon Park, 1.05pm AEST

The Tigers have beaten Carlton just once, in their most recent meeting, and that win was set up by a 26-point opening quarter. Although the Blues won each subsequent quarter, they weren't able to totally mow down the lead, and this year's edition presents as a potential danger game for Richmond. Carlton is coming off a confidence-building victory against the Eagles, while the Tigers had to grind out a win in warm conditions, picking up some less-than-ideal injuries in the process. Richmond's heartbeat remains Monique Conti in the midfield, the star is averaging 8.3 clearances, generating plenty of drive out of the middle, so Carlton would do well to send emerging midfielder Keeley Sherar to play a defensive role on Conti to limit her output.

The ruck battle also presents as an intriguing sub-plot in this game. Breann Moody, who spent much of the opening fortnight playing forward before moving back into the ruck last week, has the ability to hurt you in the air and on the scoreboard. Gabby Seymour, meanwhile, doesn't necessarily dominate the hitouts but certainly forces her opponents to be accountable around the field. The ruck who best serves their midfield will have a big say in the end result.

Tip: Carlton will be full of vigour, but the Tigers will get over the line. Richmond by seven points.

Gresier long off HB to a 1-on-1 where Brennan wins the HTB. Goes long and Jones takes the 1-on-1 contested mark 25 out. Misses.

25 - 14

Conti off after copping a ball to the face.

Quarter time

Richmond    4.1-25
Carlton        2.2-14

Goals: Brennan 2, Yassir, MacDonald.

Good tackling pressure, we're winning the inside ball, and been good on transition which is giving us looks and we're taking them. Need to tighten up defensively though. Allowing the ball to get over and out the back and been fumbly in the D50 which has cost us the two goals.

Ferguson has got to get Kelly off. She can't get near the ball as a forward when it's kicked towards her and it's like playing a player down on the field. Gifts the ball back to Carlton every time.

Our full back Bec Miller was a late out by the way (Woods in).

Head clash and play stopped due to the Carlton player staying down.
