Guernsey number changes for 2024
« on: October 28, 2023, 03:53:46 AM »
With the list changes and retirements, we have a fair few low-number guernseys now free to go to a new home:

6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 16, 18, 20, 23, 24, 37, 47.

Who do you think will move 'up' and change their guernsey number for 2024?

8&9 should be retired

Maybe they should be "rested" for a year or 2, they definitely shouldn't be retired.
If they did that for all the Champions in our history we'd be using numbers in the 100s.

Sure we should respect our Champions but  that respect can be shown by continuing to use the numbers for our Champions of the future.

You want cheerleaders and an organist as well? Kiss cam on the crowd? Mascots taking speccys on trampolines? Seppo bollocks... :thumbsdown

Rested is what I meant.

Don't want them given to a new draftee.

Also retired numbers are not permanently removed, they can be brought back in.

I'd be disappointed if we gave our new pick 29 Jack or Cotch's number.

A retired number is normally “retired” and permanent

And since when do we give draftees that low a number that high

Would be rare as rocking horse poo and in this instance , no chance

Not usually their first season but there's been a few given away early IMO the last few years.

I understand the sentiment. I like that 9 went from Campbell to cotchin.

Likewise the 4 is very special right now. It would kill me if Hugo ralphsmith got handed it

Lmao
Ralphy given 4
More chance of me flapping my arms and flying to the moon

So rest easy on that one

Seems Juddy Clarke will wear #23 next year going by his Instagram page & him talking about changing lockers in the Sam Banks video.

In the video on the club website where they follow Banksy around for day 1 of training Juddy is asked about his new locker so he clearly has had a number change

Also the video shows as the boys are waiting to turn into the car park from Punt Road, there's a small piece of vision of some of the older blokes running laps, omes i can remember were Graham, Dusty and Nank ar the rear LOL
