Gold Coast, Adelaide and North Melbourne finished with a terrific haul, while the Giants took a risk and Richmond kept its powder dry.

Were the Tigers prioritising the 2024 draft? Or were they just so keen on the two talls that went early in the second round that they were prepared to move down the order? Richmond started night two with Pick 35, but after West Coast selected Archer Reid and Brisbane pounced on Logan Morris — two forwards the Tigers had been linked to — it moved down five spots after doing two separate trades with Fremantle and West Coast. The Tigers ultimately got their key forward at Pick 43 in Liam Fawcett from Central District after taking another South Australian in Kane McAuliffe three picks earlier. McAuliffe is your typical inside midfielder who thrives at the coalface. Richmond was only expected to use two picks at the draft, so it was no surprise they traded out their last pick for a couple in the future. Overall, they added three more picks to their 2024 draft haul.

Well I'm feeling good about going into the 24 draft with a good hand of points and picks myself and I actually feel we addressed some needs.

Needed KPFs, got Kosi and Fawcett.

Needed ruck depth got Naismith and the CatB guy.

A big mid too.

No small kids yet which is great.

I think the gaining of picks for a stronger draft next year was a smart move

These ratings only take into consideration one point in time. They do not consider where a club is at list management wise.

We are working to a long term plan

2020 traded out Higgins Markov for 2nd and 3rd round picks in 21
Also traded 20 pick #20 to Geelong for their 21 1st round pick

2021 used all those picks bringing in Gibcus and co

2022 traded for Taranto and Hopper fixing midfield weakness

2023 aimed to fill our hole in tall players tarding in Kosi and drafting Fawcett. Took an inside midfield with view of him being ready for midfield when Taranto Hopper are in decline
Set up 2024 with 9 selections

Not everything will work out but the club has a plan with a long term vision.

All good for mine and couldn't give a stuff about ratings from some nufter who does not have any in depth knowledge of where we sit.

The draft ratings also fail to take into consideration the personal bias of the journo writing them. 
Eg- Kane Cornes would look at Port's drafting/trading with the rose coloured glasses on, then compare Port's 'achievements' (automatically glossing over their glaring faults) to ours & come to the damning conclusion that our drafting/trading was poor.  Then the sheep follow ...

Considering our picks I think we did pretty well.
Most importantly we have all next years picks intact.

Disappointed we did not cut a bit harder and manage to get higher up the draft order.
Just 2 nd picks again and late ones at that. The long term list management has been terrible imo.

Forced to trade for Taranto and Hopper because we just refused to take their types in drafts.
Forced to trade for Koschitzke for the same reasons. My complaints are not about just this year.

On this year well i agree with andy. They did try late to get up the draft order and when that failed did take needs.

Am over the basketballer experiments as well just find FOOTBALLERS.

One positive is that we have a good hand for next year. Should be targeting 2 top 10s or at least 1 and 2 top 20s

I noticed a shift through in recruiting we drafted and traded for needs were in the past we ignored this.Maybe Yze made that clear.
