Taylor is growing on me as he seems to be clear top4/5 consensus now,  along with - duursma. CDT. Robey.

Sharp odd one out.

That leaves backline -

Old bigs - broad.
Old smalls -  Vlastuin. Short.
Bigs - Miller. Balta. Gibcus. Trainor.
Smalls. - brown. Banks.

We need mids and pace

Idk if the club is at the stage where you overlook the best available yet

Can anyone who follows the draft more than I do lessen my fears on us using a top 5 pick on Grlj?

I know he is super athletic - quick, agile with a tank on him too.

But from what I know he doesn’t win his own ball and his kicking is suspect.

I could accept not winning his own ball, I mean outside players aren’t specifically required to do that but if he’s not an accurate kick of the footy, then I feel like our picks are way too high for a player of his profile.

I suspect pick 4 will be traded for another pick in the top 10 and a first rounder next year but that also is subject to who WC pick . Let’s see how it plays out?

25 minute discussion about Richmond and picks 3 & 4.

They see our best scenario being Robey and Grlj.

Asked if we would consider swapping pick 3 for Melbourne's pick 7 & a future first (Melbourne have Gold Coast's F1) if we want picks for next year for any F/S. Take Grlj at 4 and then at 7 pick up a X.Taylor, Cumming, Dovaston or Farrow based on need.

The phantom drafts see us requiring speed and being linked to Grlj. Not going for CDT (as we took talls last year) nor mids like Sharp (as we drafted Smillie last year).

That’s all well and good but when did clubs start drafting for need over talent, especially in year 2 of a full on rebuild?

When the talent is fairly even anyway, why not?
