I can’t work out why some Phantom drafts have us picking a mid sized backman , I hope our recuiters don’t have that mindset where they just go after the same type of player like we went after small outside left footers for years , I surely hope not.
I’m hoping we take Robey and Cummings now.

Because they're dumb as

From what i can gather from reading all these projections is that they have us taking Taylor because he is the highest rated player available at that pick and/or we drafted 3 mids last year so couldn’t possibly pickup 2 more this year  ::)

Robey and Sharp for mine. Will be pretty filthy if we pass on Sharp and he ends up being a gun. He’s been the best performing and most consistent player in this draft class for atleast 2 years now.

ESPN draft profile of sharp says "he has put together one of the best junior careers ever". Which is rather high praise.

Foxfooty player comparison of Taylor is AFL player comparison: Josh Weddle/Nathan Broad. Which is a little concerning for a top4 (open) draft pick.

Still , Vlastuin is a looming big hole and Taylor seems the best replacement.

Yup. I’m not gonna pretend like i follow the draft super closely or have ever watched any of these guys play other than highlight videos on YouTube, but it’s so clear from match reports that Sharp has been the best performing player of this draft crop. RFC must know something that we don’t because it seems extremely short sighted to overlook the best mid in the draft because we drafted a few mids last year. In year 2 of a rebuild you can’t just assume all previously recently drafted players will be best 22 in 5 years time.

And while i agree vlas will be sorely missed when he hangs up the boots in a few years time, his role as medium tall/interceptor as important as it is, only becomes relevant if have gun key position defenders to work off.

Sounds like we have good options.

I've cooled on CDT.

Thinking now maybe Sharp and Robey.

Best draft prospects ranked 1-50: AFL stars they play like and latest club interest intel

Ben Waterworth
Fox Sports
October 30th 2025

1. WILLEM DUURSMA

2. ZEKE UWLAND - The Suns are well prepared to match a Uwland bid, which will almost certainly come via one of West Coast (Pick 2) or Richmond (Picks 3 and 4).

3. DANIEL ANNABLE - The Lions will match an Annable bid, which could come as early as West Coast’s Pick 2. Otherwise, one of Richmond, Essendon or, at the latest, Melbourne will call his name, with Brisbane well placed to match.

4. COOPER DUFF-TYTLER - He’s a strong chance to land at West Coast (Pick 2), but Essendon (Picks 5 and 6) also has interest should it be able to trade up for him.

5. DYLAN PATTERSON - It’s expected one of West Coast or Richmond will bid on Patterson, with the Suns to match and secure their star academy prospect.

6. HARRY DEAN - If the Eagles don’t call his name, it’s unlikely Dean slides past Richmond. But don’t fear, Blues fans, with Carlton a certainty to match.

7. SULLIVAN ROBEY - Melbourne (Picks 7 and 8 ) was the first AFL team to reach out to Robey following his third Talent League match and would love to take him, but Richmond (Picks 3 and 4) and, especially, Essendon (Picks 5 and 6) will strongly consider him. If the Dees are keen, they’ll have to trade up. For what it’s worth, Robey is an Essendon fan.

8. XAVIER TAYLOR - Taylor has been strongly linked to Richmond (Pics 3 and 4) — and if the Tigers don’t take him, it’s hard to see him slipping past Essendon or Melbourne.

9. DYSON SHARP - Essendon (Picks 5 and 6), who’ve been linked to Sharp this week, is probably the start of his range, while Melbourne and West Coast would also consider him. There’s absolutely no way he gets past Adelaide (Pick 16), but it’s unlikely he’ll be on the board for that long.

10. SAM CUMMING - Cumming’s draft range starts at Richmond (Picks 3 and 4), but seems more likely at this stage to land at one of Essendon (Picks 5 and 6) or Melbourne (Picks 7 and 8 ). If he’s still on the board by then, he at least won’t get past the Giants (Pick 12).

11. SAM GRLJ - While Grlj is outside the top 10 here, there’s strong links to him being selected by Richmond at either Pick 3 and 4. Again, if he slides, it’s unlikely Essendon or Melbourne if he’s still on the board.

According to the Herald Sun, there is increasing speculation that Essendon could strike a deal with West Coast for pick 2.

That would most likely give the Bombers access to Calder Cannons ruck/forward Cooper Duff-Tytler, with the Eagles firming to select Willem Duursma with their first selection.

Rival clubs believe Essendon are “obsessed” with Duff-Tytler, who played for the club’s VFL side during the season and is close friends with Essendon NGA prospects Adam Sweid and Hussien El Achkar.

People saying wce have delisted two rucks.

If true, you'd assume that means CDT to wce at 2 and Robey to tigers?

Prior to potential trades

I think their pick 2 will be 1 of CDT, Sharp, Robey in that order of likelihood.

Then our 2 picks will be out of CDT, Robey, Grlj and Taylor.

If we have gril that high hopefully a trade is on the cards.

People have speculated 5 and 15 from essendon

I’m fighting an uphill battle trying to manifest us taking sharp and Robey because I don’t think grlj’s profile matches a top5 pick.

Essendon don’t have pick 15, their next after 5 & 6 is 21 and no chance grlj is still on the board there. I don’t think he’s still on the board at 15 either for what it’s worth.

The speculation is they get 15 from GC and offer it to wce / Richmond for CDT or Robey
