Final Score

Richmond   1.3    5.4      6.7       7.11-53
St Kilda      3.3    6.6    12.11   20.15-135

Goal: Campbell 3, Lynch, Bauer, Brown, McIntosh

2.7 to 14.9 after half time  :help. Totally uncompetitive. And we haven't played a top side yet. Port and St Kilda are mediocre teams. We've got Brisbane next week  :help.

What I'm most disappointed about is not the result but we bought a kid in who played midfield in the VFL,  killed it and has played predominantly as HF flanker

That's pathetic,  criminal

That’s been the whole time under Yze. Can’t kick Taranto or hopper out cos they can’t play anywhere else. Centre square bounce of Taranto hopper and Dow is just so bleak

He's had plenty of teammates but Ross has been ordinary the past weeks after a strong round 1.

Taranto has had cameos as a midsize forward in the past while Hopper often played HFF for the Giants IIRC.

We have a one-paced midfield. Sonsie and McAuliffe are similar types too. We don't have prime Dusty obviously, Sheds or Bolton anymore who can break from inside out to the outside or a Lambert who can run up and down the ground all day linking up winning heaps of footy. We're back at square one going to have to rebuild our midfield from scratch and we haven't drafted most of them yet.

They’re both completely ineffective at HF imo. Agree on the rest though, I just wonder though when do we kick these guys out and allow Lalor, smillie etc to run the midfield ? I understand the time isn’t now, but Tt snd hopper still have what, 5 years left ? And they can’t play any other positions

It amazes me the reactions here. Do you really expect a 4 qtr game from a rebuilding side that isn't going to happen. You get patches here and there from kids or a quarter or half a game. The problem for us is our senior core and second tier they go missing and can't even do basics at times. Rather get beltings with kids then has beens.

My main issue is our inability to defend ground balls.
I think Saints were +25-30 but their ability to score from it bothers me.
Would like to more pressure on ball carrier in that situation.
Was the same vs Pies in scratch match
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Glad we are accepting another 20 goal against match and another 10 goal loss.

Struggling to kick a score over 100 points and leak goals like a river dam.

I see no structure or pressure.

Not sure where the pressure and manic we showed against Carlton regardless how poor they are.

Hard to find 10 positives from this match.

That backline is terrible and whoever is coaching it, should walk now or start dropping players.

Surely Yze needs to spray them all?

hack kicking and hack kicking and hack kicking …

scoring below 80 will attract more questions towards Yze …

Effort, Game Plan, Pressure non-existent!

Don’t understand why Vlastuin went on Wilkie after we were 10 goals down? Why not just leave Harry on Wilkie to learn?

Sub off Short for hack kicking 95% of his kicks!

Yes Harry didn’t touch it, 3 matches, terrible system he needs to play.

Lalor, nothing … Bauer flying and grabbing nothing, even better when he crashes into his teammates for the mark too!

Taranto out of form, something not right … Nankervis tapping it to nobody and lacking it forward…

1st half was shocking, lucky to be in it …

If Mansell gets suspended over that, AFL will have it coming to them …

Ben Miller - Dumb Footballer

Blight - settle him in a position  … at least play forward!

Senior players a let down … Short, Broad, Taranto, Hopper - did nothing!

And St Kilda are a poor team, they are a 11th-15th team like Port Adelaide …

AND OMG! CAN WE STOP ZONING AMD PLAY MAN ON MAN!

I don’t think I’m Robinson Crusoe here but I thought halfway during the second we were a decent chance of winning. Our midfield was breaking even and their forward line looked undersized. Imagine the optimism if Nanks disallowed goal went through.

However 14 second half goals to 2 is jolting reality check . The team is looking tired already.
The midfield just looks like rearranged deck chairs .

AFL Report Card - Round 3

Will Faulkner, Jack Jovanovski, Ben Waterworth
NCA NewsWire from Fox Sports
March 31st, 2025

RICHMOND

The Tigers fought in the first half but were unable to stick with the Saints, who piled on 14 second-half goals to walk away with a percentage-boosting win. Adem Yze’s side pressured the ball-carrier plenty in the first half but dropped off significantly, resulting in an ugly scoreline as last year’s wooden-spooners slumped to 1-2. “(Yze) would be a bit disappointed. He’s a realist, he understands where they’re at, but he’d be a bit disappointed with the ease with which they’re getting scored against,” Garry Lyon said during the Fox Footy broadcast in the fourth quarter.

IN THE VOTES

Seth Campbell kicked three goals from five scoring shots and looked the Tigers’ most likely offensive threat all afternoon, causing St Kilda early headaches with his liveliness. The 20-year-old would’ve had a fourth if not reversed after a score review revealed slight contact with the post, but his impact wasn’t lost. “I love his finishing … there’s a shining light for the Tigers, he’s managed to be competitive,” AFL legend Jason Dunstall said.

ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

Richmond allowed the Saints 21 marks inside 50 on Saturday and was unable to stop their transition movement, particularly in the second half. “Once it gets inside 50, the Richmond defenders (combating) repeat entries are just getting weary and can’t get (to) a ground ball,” Lyon said on Fox Footy.
