Saints at Marvel.

I'm expecting a big loss.

Hope Higgins has a crap game.

Tigers’ burning question: Can the Tigers block out the outside noise?

A side well and truly in rebuild mode, plenty of pundits will have their thoughts on the Tigers throughout the 2025 season, both good and bad.

A month ago there were questions on whether Adem Yze’s side would even win a game, how their youngsters would stack up and if Yze was the right man for the job.

Those queries went away quickly after a stirring victory against the Blues in round one, but now the heat is being projected elsewhere.

Midfielder Tim Taranto has drawn criticism this week for his effectiveness, having been held to just 17 disposals in a heavy loss to Port Adelaide.

“Our players are gonna get criticism left, right and centre – so it’s just how much you want to take in,” Yze said at his midweek press conference.

“What we do know is Tim’s an amazing player, a strong leader around our footy club and when he plays well, we’re in most games,” he continued.

“So all the outside noise, we just try and block it out and help him with that. But that’s always going to be there. But we know how much we love him and how good of a player he is.”

It’s pretty clear that there will be storylines and intrigue surrounding the Tigers all season, but so long as they stick to their guns and the plans in place, they’ll be alright.

Saints ain't all that good. If we're going to pinch wins for the season this could be one of them but ..yeah reality might set in. Still playing a lot of kids with 10 games like Tresize.

St Kilda v Richmond Preview

Ethan Clark
SEN
28 March 2025

St Kilda at Marvel Stadium are a different beast.

They have won six of their last eight games overall, with all wins coming at the venue, so it’s fair to say they should be teeming with confidence come Saturday twilight.

The potential return of Liam Henry and Cooper Sharman will be welcome to add some class to the forward mix; but the loss of Liam Stocker and Hunter Clark removes some experience. Arie Schoenmaker, Tobie Travaglia and Jack Carroll would be in selection talks after strong VFL performances.

Tom Lynch’s Tigers return will be much needed against the Saints, who are still missing Dougal Howard. Tyler Sonsie and Kane McAuliffe pressed their cases for selection in a VFL win last week, while Josh Smillie will need to have a run in the magoos before AFL selection.

The confidence of these young Tigers would have been dinted in the wake of a Port Adelaide smacking. We will have to wait and see which version of the much-maligned side turns out this week.

It should be fairly comfortable for the Saints who have won five of their last six over the Tigers. Although, trustworthiness is not necessarily something you can associate with the side at the moment.

If the best Richmond shows up like we saw against Carlton they can definitely cause a stir, but Ross Lyon would not allow his troops to take this clash lightly.

The Saints have struggled to put away opponents in recent times, but the 48-point win late last year against the Tigers may be a sign of what’s to come.

Prediction: St Kilda by 57 points.

Jayden Short two pathetic soft efforts so far leading to 2 shots on goal.
And Ben Miller, can't wait til he's in the 2s
