Assuming our offer to young is only 2 years then that’s why up moving west.

Money wise I can’t imagine there is a gulf in the salary per year.

do you think 3/4 years offer out west is the same as our 2 year offer?

I doubt that very much.

Cal Twomey's latest:

Tylar Young - choice has narrowed between staying at Richmond or moving to West Coast (offer of 3-4 years plus links to Mini, Matt Clarke (who drafted Young), Baker, Graham)

Rosas still weighing up between Richmond & Sydney. He will make a decision in the next few days.

Tyler is 28 next year. I just don’t think a 4 year deal is worth it.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

You think they are also offering significantly more $ per year? It’s possible I guess but I’d be surprised. If it was 2 extra years at significantly more $ per year I don’t think he’d still be contemplating it, would just take that deal and go out west.

With the salary cap increase next season I think both clubs would have plenty of room $$$ wise

Having said that I reckon the Eagles would likely be offering not just more years but more $$$

There another consideration and is a significant difference IMHO.

Over the next 4 years we will have a number of our Cubs come out of contract with other Clubs no doubt chasing them. We need to make sure we don’t have onerous deals that may impinge on keeping our talent. Also, ensuring we have plenty of space to target free agents next year and beyond

If Tylar wants to go despite our Club being the only Club prepared to draft him originally, then like the gang of 4 last year he goes.

We'll get a pick for him because I've got no doubt he won't be delisted until it is absolutely necessary. The Club will do a trade

Losing blight kosi young in one swoop is a bit silly even if wins are not important next season.

Can see what the club is doing, it's freeing up spot and cap space to launch in the near future. Don't mind it.

If we offered Young 2 years I see no harm in 3 +/- trigger for 4th

Wonder if we offer to pay Youngs wages so Eagles can draft someone else they'll improve on pick 52 for extra cap space.

I don't know why rebuilding clubs don't take advantage of this loophole.

WC don’t need anyone to pay their players salaries. Just like us they are probably overpaying a lot of players just to meet the minimum TPP requirement.

Anyway I’m not sure if matters what pick they give us, whether it’s a second or third rounder it will be earmarked for kellaway anyway.

Perhaps because it would be considered draft tampering?

And BTW...

How can we pay part of a players wage who hpdoesnt have a contract with us?

Young is uncontracted so there is no wage to be paid.
