Wonder if we offer to pay Youngs wages so Eagles can draft someone else they'll improve on pick 52 for extra cap space.

I don't know why rebuilding clubs don't take advantage of this loophole.

Perhaps because it would be considered draft tampering?

And BTW...

How can we pay part of a players wage who hpdoesnt have a contract with us?

Young is uncontracted so there is no wage to be paid.

Yes Young being uncontracted means it won't work.

How is it draft tampering? Clubs throw in deals with the inclusion of paying part of a contracted wages to sweeten the deal. Jack Bowes deal for example. Offloaded a pick and a payment of wage bill for a player to be taken? Feels a lot worse then if they said, we will pay Jack Bowes wage if you gave us a pick that would be considered 'overs' for his value?

Or in Clayton Oliver case, Melbourne want to offload him and will pay some of his wage. But will trade it for the best possible pick. How is negotiating the portion of what they pay vs the pick they get draft tampering? I'd consider that really clever negotiations unless there is a hard and fast rule. If there is Bowes trade should have been blocked.

Had a chat with a certain 'in the know' - bare with me.

Apparently some movement and discussions around Blues investigating our willingness to part with Pick 3, potentially for Duff if he is available. With Jagga Smith mentioned as a trade for Pick 3.

I'd want some assurances around his rehab but I'd seriously consider Jagga for our pick 3.

Would be a big risk given Smith was a freak with lateral movement and agility etc.

Fresh off an acl

Surely he'd be 1 pick if he was in this year’s draft. Even with an ACL injury.

Would be an extremely odd trade to trade someone who hasn't even debuted at the club yet. My initial thoughts were something is dodgy about his rehab and the Blues may be doing us over. I'd want assurances and would think Jagga would happily move to us, as a Tiger family and the fact plenty want out of the Blues in TDK and Curnow. Place stinks.

0 chance Carlton trade jagga. This time of year has some funny rumours but that’s just ridiculous.

I will add my own “in the know”

Carltons exits all have their owns reasons, but one things that’s constant is their mis-management of injuries. Ie putting players on the park when they aren’t ready. They used a bad surgeon for many years too, may or may not have had something to do with Curnows reoccurring knee injuries

Agree it is ridiculous, just forwarding what was shared with me, if anything to see if anyone else has heard any whispers. I don't believe it has any chance, but hey it's silly season.

It might be a fake rumor but there is always more than zero chance.
.CDT is potentially a unicorn and t@s not that far fetched he has more upside than Smith.

A bad injury of that type is significant to that kind of player.

It'd be nice to have him at Richmond cause he loves the club iirc.

Carlton rebuilding yet again makes it more plausible.

I am unsure how high jagga would go this draft with the acl. Maybe 1 but duursma looks very good too

@CalTwomey
St Kilda has pick No.7 on the table for Flanders - that pick is now expected to be central to the package to land Christian Petracca at Gold Coast

"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”
