34 on main list
4 on rookie list
1 on cat B list

Which list have you included Seth Campbell in? The 34 or 4?

If he still is in your 4 then he will need to moved. Which will make it 35 and 3.

If that's correct.

Perhaps we don't take Kellaway national draft?

Just going based on the player list on the RFC website, this is what I’ve come up with. Is the website missing some players because I really thought we were closer to the max then what my count would suggest.

Primary List (33):
Vlastuin
Hopper
Prestia
Ross
Mansell
Miller
Ralphsmith
Taranto
Short
Smillie
Rioli
Gibcus
Lynch
Balta
Lalor
Clarke
Hotton
Nankervis
Faull
Mcauliffe
Alger
Brown
Trainor
Ryan
Armstrong
Broad
Fawcett
Sims
Banks
Campbell
Green
Smith
Retschko

Cat A Rookie List (3):
Trezise
Lefau
Gray

Cat B Rookie List (1):
Hayes-Brown

Uncontracted (2):
Dow
Sonsie

My understanding is that although Miller was delisted in 2020 and then placed on the rookie list he was elevated back onto the senior list in 2023. And, to my knowledge, Seth Campbell is still on the rookie list. So your numbers are still correct. i.e. 34 on the senior list (including un-contracted Dow and Sonsie) plus four on the rookie A list (including Seth Campbell) and one on the rookie B list.

I think both Dow and Sonsie will be delisted leaving four senior list places and two rookie list places vacant. In the draft, use picks 3 & 4 on best available. If a bid comes in for Kellaway before 38 use it for him and if not, at pick 38 select best available (assuming it's not Kellaway). At this point trade pick 81 for last pick in the draft (just so we have something to match a bid on Kellaway post pick 38). If, subsequently, a bid comes in for Kellaway, use the late pick to match the bid but if no bids come for Kellaway use our last pick to elevate Seth Campbell making three places on our rookie list.

In the rookie draft, pick Kellaway at our first pick, find a VFL ruck (I think we are in loads of trouble if Nank goes down) and place Dow or Sonsie on the rookie list.

If Dow and Sonsie are delisted that will leave us with 6 spots on the primary list and 2 rookie list spots. Let’s assume both of Miller and Campbell are either already on the primary list or will be elevated ahead of the new season, that leaves 5 spots on the primary list and 3 rookie list spots.

Then your presumably adding pick 3, pick 4, pick 38 and kellaway, leaving 1 spot to either leave open or retain Dow or Sonsie and then 3 rookie spots for the preseason draft / SSP period / midseason draft.

The maximum list size is 42 players on the primary and rookie A list plus up to two on the rookie B list. The minimum on the primary list is 36, the maximum is 38. To get to the maximum of 42 on the primary and rookie A list you can have (i) 36 on the primary list plus six rookie A's; (ii) 37 on the primary list plus five rookie A's; or (iii) 38 on the primary list plus four rookie A's. For some years now, Richmond has opted for 36 on the primary list plus six rookie A's. I can't see that changing in 2026. As of now we have 34 on the primary list (including un-contracted Dow and Sonsie) and four on the rookie A list which means, if we keep the 36/6 option we currently only have two places on the primary list and two on the rookie list. That's why I think we'll delist Dow and Sonsie to make room for four places on the primary list. That means we draft picks 3, 4, 38 and Kellaway or pick 3, 4, 38 and elevate Seth Campbell. If the former, we have two picks in the rookie draft; if the latter we have three pick in the rookie draft to pick up Kellaway there.

Miller is on the primary list

Thanks WP. I’ve edited my above post to put miller under the primary list. Still not 100% on Campbell but given he extended until 2029 and you can only be on the rookie list for a max of 4 years, I would think he has been or will be elevated by the time lists are submitted to the afl ahead of the 2026 season.

Yup! You’re right it’s 42 total btw primary and rookie A listed players - thanks for clarifying!

I do think right now our list is most likely 33-3-1 as posted above as I can’t imagine Campbell stayed on the rookie list after his 4 year extension.

Assuming that is the case, 99% sure Sonsie and Dow are being delisted. Maybe they are waiting until after draft night just incase we trade out some picks. Don’t really think it’s fair to those boys to be left hanging that long, would only give other clubs 1 day to consider them before the rookie draft.
