BREAKING: @Richmond_FC are coming to Tassie!

The Tigers will play two games at Bellerive - one in 2026, one in 2027, prior to the Devils entering the AFL from 2028.

A fantastic chance for people to head along and watch four of Tassie’s finest, in Sam Banks, Rhyan Mansell, Seth Campbell and skipper Toby Nankervis.

On Ch7 news tonight Xander McGuire said it was 1 game a season for the next 2 seasons. $1mil for each game. Said it would replace our 1 Marvel home game. We keep our 10 MCG home games

From Mitch Cleary X

It will be a big financial boost for Richmond - moving their Marvel ‘home’ match to Hobart. They’re also expected to retain their 10x MCG home matches.

This year’s Marvel crowd of 18,423 v Gold Coast was the Tigers’ lowest ‘home’ attendance in Vic since 2003 (outside of COVID)

Don’t mind it at all especially when it’s trading one of our marvel games. Should keep it going for as long as we are rebuilding, extra $$$ will come in handy for the redevelopment I’m sure.

Would have been good for the member's to be told first.

As long as the money goes solely to the redevelopment then I've changed my view. No issue with this decision

I'm not sure why people keep saying it is replacing "one of our Marvel games"

We have only had 1 Marve home game per season for over 5 years now

This deal replaces our 1 Marvel home game.

are they going to or could they add another marvel game to us as an away game?

if we play one less game at that place then i guess its okay. Trip down south is always good.

Still not happy the club couldn't balance the books, and trades earlier to avoid this mess. They have completely stuffed that part of it up.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Even if they had the redevelopment 100% covered already, I still don’t think this is a bad thing when we are a clear bottom 8 team. If we are competing and selling home games that potentially cost us 4 points then I’d be fuming but until then may as well make some cash.

"... It could continue for many years to come" - Xander McGuire on 7news tonight.

https://x.com/7NewsMelbourne/status/1987427924145021164

Of the 42 AFL matches played at Ninja Stadium (Bellerive), the venue’s two biggest include Richmond in 2016 (17,844) and 2015 (17,544).

Richmond fans have voted with their feet on the club’s deal with Marvel Stadium in recent years with an average of 21,753 fans attending their last four home matches.

This year’s crowd of 18,423 against Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium was the club’s lowest attendance at a home match in Victoria outside of COVID since 2003 (against Port Adelaide).

The additional finances the Tigers receive from the new deal will also assist with the club’s redevelopment project at Punt Road due to be completed by mid-2027.
