David Norman
« on: October 17, 2025, 05:30:03 PM »
I am saddened to hear of the passing of David Norman.
38 years ago, as a 13 year old, I was finally allowed to go to the footy.
I knew nothing about where to sit or how things worked. But I knew about the cheer squad and thought it would be a good place to sit.
David welcomed me with open arms, always made sure I had a flag or a flogger. He often made sure that I got the chance to get out on the ground and hold the banner up, not that I was helping much. I couldn’t believe that I was seeing stars like Dale Weightman and Peter Wilson up so close.
In short David helped me feel like I belonged to the club, and even though we were so hopeless at the time it cemented a life long love affair with the club.
My condolences to his friends and family.

Same same D Crane. He was one of the really good ones.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

As I said in the RIP thread, 'Norm' knew every person in the cheer squad by name.  That's a thousand or so people back in the early eighties.  Immensely popular among the kids, a real Richmond person ...      :clapping
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!  Loud, proud & dangerous!
