It’s not balanced TK.
West Coast have picked up Baker, Young and Graham from Richmond and also Starcevich from Brisbane. They are miles ahead in regeneration of list with recruitment of players from other clubs - with Richmond being the major victim.

I’ve stated both Ratten and also Selwyn Griffith were positive appointments.
So again. You are just wrong.

I see mediocrity at the club. I called it before the season started.
Unfortunately, that won’t change until there is more change - particularly at CEO level.

I don’t just think this, I know it. Maybe i have seen more than you but this mirrors our last period post flag eras from 68-82.
It’s scary. And the issue then as now started at the top.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

You can be down on the club atm and rightly so, I agree with much of what you’re saying. But you repeat end on end on every thread on this forum.

You also do it to a point where even if something positive which goes against your narrative occurs you spin it back into a negative.

You’ve said many times richmond cannot attract any players. True for the most part but such is being a bottom 4 club. West coast is one of the biggest clubs and has atleast a 50% monopoly on WA players who want to move home, and they haven’t managed to lure any big names to them while they have been down too. It’s just the cycle of footy.

Yet when I simply point out that we have atleast managed to lure in Briggs, you firstly dismiss it because he is a delisted player, which is ignoring the fact that he is an UFA, and as one, the giants don’t have any right to match and force a trade, meaning they were forced to delist him. Then you claim he wasn’t our first target, and maybe that’s right but imo he is a better fit for our list right now at 26 and approx. 90 games then a 22 year old 10 game project player.

That isn’t to say we need to be throwing a party because we have reportedly secured 1 player, I have said many times that the footy department are sleeping atm and need to be working harder to 1st delist the many out of contract list cloggers and secondly get on the hunt for mid 20s, 100 game players that can help bridge the gap between our last dynasty and our new cubs coming through.

You can call it blind loyalty if you’d like, but I’d rather be able to form a balanced opinion than look for the negative on every report because your disillusioned with where the club sits atm.

OER best post of 2026

No personal attacks , yet providing a really valid opinion

I am in the camp of “the worlds stuffed”,  regardless of footy

It’s why I have chosen to reside abroad for the time being

But this post genuinely resonated with me for some reason

And I’m the opposite of some soft sissy

For me, great post TK, thank you

I have huge respect for you Damo.
I also really appreciate TK’s positivity.

So, in that context please understand - I wish I was wrong and you were right.

But, that is simply not the case.

We are an unmitigated joke of a club.
We are irrelevant.
The last card to fall will be the bottom line but it’s coming fast.

God knows I wish I was wrong but it’s just not the case.

Appreciate the post HRT

Maybe the reality of where we are at as a club, falls between your opinion and TK’s opinion

Thanks again for the post

Thanks Damo, much appreciated  :cheers

HRT, no issue with you mate. Like I said I agree with a lot of youre criticisms. I have big issues with Yze, the footy department and CEO/Pres. I just think in being disillusioned with those things, you are starting to find the negatives even in small and fleeting positives.

Also disagree with West Coast being miles ahead. They have won the same number of games as us over the last 3 seasons including 1 spoon. We also haven’t lost to them in 2 or 3 years. They started their rebuild atleast 2 seasons before us so even if they are ahead which imo they aren’t,  they’ve had a 2 year head start so they bloody well should be. Theyve taken Baker, Young and Graham from us, the later 2 most were glad to see the back of, so we can’t then turn around and paint that as a negative.

Let’s see how we go next season. We’re 3 years into a heavy rebuild - it’s gonna take a bit of time. To me we just need our draftees from 2024-26 to get on the park and get a solid 15 games experience. Our improvement will come from them and some solid mature bodies to fill in the gap. Hopefully our new fitness boss can achieve this and if he does and yze is still dishing up the same uncompetitive crap, then I very much expect him to get the boot.

All good lads. As i said, i hope i am wrong but think change off field will be the only way things will help us on field.
In w/l’s and % it’s the worst 3 years ever for our club. As Ross Lyon once said, the scoreboard is the best form of feedback

Baker , Graham and even Young nothing to ride home there they have already played their best footy.

My point is more that West Coast are least able to attract talent while ours is ironically being drained to the same club.

Foxfooty.com.au takes a fresh look at the trade state of play at every AFL club.

RICHMOND

Players who could arrive

It’s almost a fait accompli that ruckman Kieren Briggs gets to Richmond as a free agent, having progressively fallen out of favour at the Giants under Adam Kingsley. Briggs is set to offer support for captain Toby Nankervis.

Another Giant, key forward Jake Riccardi, has been linked to a potential Punt Road move more recently, as the club presumably eyes more experience in the forward half to aid the youngsters — and with a Tom Lynch retirement likely coming next year.

Otherwise, Blair Hartley and the list management crew could assess veteran options to help guide Richmond’s next generation of highly-touted youth.

After missing out on Zak Butters this year, expect the Tigers to throw their hat in the ring for Victorian Matt Rowell next year.

Freo ruck gettable?

SEN’s Tom Morris says that Sean Darcy’s future at Fremantle is a talking point.

The 28-year-old is contracted with the Dockers until the end of 2030 but has not played at senior level since Round 17.

Morris says Darcy, who was overlooked for Mason Cox during Freo’s finals series, is wanted by some clubs in Melbourne including Richmond.

“The future of Sean Darcy at Fremantle (is in the air). Fremantle will say he’s going nowhere,” Morris said on SEN’s Fireball.

“Sean Darcy might say I’m happy here. He’s contracted at the Dockers for a long period of time but clubs in Melbourne believe they can make a play for him.

“I’m looking at Richmond, I’m looking at any other club that needs a ruck as well. Then it’s what Freo can get back in return.”

Darcy signed a monster six-year extension in 2023 which has him tied to the Dockers for another four seasons.

"It (Butters deal) is a bit of a standstill. There have been discussions on how it will work. I think we will see the FA compo (Pick 5), then I think we might see a mega deal as a subsidary of this deal. Pick slides, multiple teams, multiple players could be involved."

“The Pies are making some move to get some pieces around him (Lachie Neale) as well, Jesse Hogan on a two-year deal, there is a chance they’ll have pick 9 they could slide that down with pick 11 with Carlton they can an extra second rounder potentially bring in Jayden Short which they got real interest in him, that will be a quality move. They will still be able to take their first two picks to the draft.”

"Multiple clubs and multiple picks. The Power will try and get their hands on the compo pick, as well as the Dogs first pick (Pick 12). There is going to be different elements to this deal. They are all about picks for their kids next year at the top of the draft."

If Port do get the pick 5 compo for Butters, I'd hope we'd be going after it. Swap our future first. Gives Port an early pick next year they need for their F-S/NGA while we get two goes at the top 5 this year. We can trade back into the first round next year as Tassie has to trade a number of their mid-range first rounders. Either Hopper and/or Mansell.
