Late night tellie
« on: August 29, 2006, 03:14:32 AM »
Is there anything more annoying than the latest thing to come to late night tv - puzzle shows hosted by nuffers who babble on and on like they are talking to 2 year olds while waiting for a phone call to tell them the answer to what word is this - "sp_tlight". It started with one on Ch 10 but they have now spread to Nine and Seven as well. The only way to escape from them is the off button  :scream.

On the Chaser (classic show) the other night they showed two of the shows side by side and some Bozo bogan who was watching both of them called up and gave the correct answer to the wrong show! FLMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :rollin

These shows are a complete Con. They rely on nuf nufs to part with their hard earned by making repeated calls in the attempt to try and win the big prize.
These con shows use the "poker machine" principle where they guarantee a profit by only paying out after they have made profit over and above the prize money. Thats why you see them drag each quiz out and sometimes don't even take a caller.

I believe it's criminal and should be investigated.  :banghead

First time I've ever seen one of these on tonight - have to agree, criminal.
It's another form of gambling and some stupid suckers blowing their hard earned ringing up in the faint chance they'll win something.
Like tonight, the theme is:  Things you find at the tennis.  Strange, things like tennis players, tennis balls, and the most logical answers are not the correct answers.
Spent half an hour hinting at one of the answers which was:  Who are the kids who collect the balls in a tennis game?
Hello, it took over 1/2 an hour for someone to answer it, and lo and behold it wasn't the best answer and only got $50 not the $500
They carry on like there are no calls coming in, when there's probably thousands.  You multiply the 55c a call and how much are these sods making out of it.
Victorian Gaming Authority, what are you doing?

One way for them to take as many calls as they need to without fear of anyone getting one of the right answers. Choose a topic that has a billion possible respones then make the few winning answers the obscure ones. A total con  :banghead.

Victorian Gaming Authority, what are you doing?

They're probably prosecuting a small football club for holding a raffle.

SBS and ABC have never been more appealing.
