Problems at Geelong

I have heard from a very good source that there are many problems at Geelong at the moment.

Apparently there is a fair bit of "activity" amongst players/coaching staff and partners of players/coaching staff.

This has obvioulsy caused a fair bit of tension among certain people and things are about to reach boiling point.

Apparently one high profile person from Geelong has already had their wife walk out on them, she was last seen driving past Windy Hill

There's heaps of rumours coming out of that place. Small town = small talk. Bomber Thompson must be on thin ice now if senior players have lost faith in him. Must be like old times for Otto lol .

Winning the preseason comp has almost become a curse with Carlton and now Geelong falling apart.

Kelly should have been ours in the first place. He was drafted with the first round pick we traded away to offload Daffy to the Swans  .

You would think we'd need to swap say Hyde (the Cats need to add pace) for Kelly unless a third club got involved. I'd prefer Bartel but that's wishful thinking.

The Cats are spiralling into further disarray. The good old 100 signature petition. Where have we heard that idea before lol.

Just out of interest, has the RFC increased the number of signatures required to force a EGM via a petition? To allow only 100 people hold 30,000 members effectively to ransom is ridiculous. I had a feeling at the time we were planning to re-make it 5% which would mean you would require 1,500 signatures.

 FRANK Costa's control of Geelong Football Club was under enormous pressure last night, with a local businessman calling for a spill of the board.

Denis McMurrich, a former Cats vice-president, said he would demand an extraordinary general meeting be called next month.

McMurrich plans to present Geelong president Costa and Cook with a 250-signature petition next week.

Costa and Cook could not be contacted last night, but a club official confirmed an extraordinary general meeting could be sought under Geelong's constitution provided 100 signatures from members were on a petition.

McMurrich's call came as the Cats were already dealing with a separate petition regarding the club review, lodged with the club by a mystery woman on Monday.

For all the problems they have now, I thought they've run that club pretty well over the last couple of years working their way out of that debt they had.
If all the disharmony is due to one man  and around that club, he's got a lot to answer for.  They should have been playing finals this year.
But who cares?

mt, pretty sure the Federal Government introduced legislation last year to stop the vexatious use of the 100 member rule (an increase to 5% was definitely proposed) and that the loophole used to force the RFC EGM was part of the Articles of Association because it was Corporate Law rather than being specifically put in the club constitution .

If the legislation was amended, which I think it was but don't know how to find out find for certain, then the RFC constitution would have altered accordingly and the signatures from disgruntled Geelong fans would be nothing more than just that.

The Geelong football club board have only themselves to blame, they have dallied around this situation with the coach for far too long. a decsion on the coach should have been made weeks ago. the board deserves to be toppled.

Thanks FF. The site with the Corporations Act still has both options but it may be out of date or the RFC may have altered the club constitution. Let's hope so.
