Newmo and Hartigan lol stealing bread rolls – hoping Brent wasn’t going to eat both of them and actually shared them with Chris.  Skinfolds are coming down so he pleased he didn’t eat the chips and pies lol

Thanks Moi. Top stuff  :cheers.

Terry’s thoughts – I’m not including Caros because she's not concentrating on footy  ;)

 :rollin

Goal kicking at training – okay.  Under pressure situation of a game, hopeless.  We have hit the post the most of all clubs this season.

My pet hate. I still can't understand how professional footballers generally have no trouble hitting a 2 foot wide teammate moving at speed yet struggle to kick the footy between two stationary posts 7 yards apart or whatever it is  ???. As for the game pressure excuse that's a cop out IMHO. A set shot is under no physical pressure whatsoever unlike a pass to a teammate in general play. It's the easiest disposal in the game.

Our goal kicking at training is average. Given the new kick-in rule and how costly kicking points now is, you would think AFL coaches and players would organise hardcore sessions just for goalkicking practice until most players kick a goal 99 times out of a 100 from 40m out or less within the "vee" or 45 degrees . It's bleedingly obvious but you win games by kicking the most goals so why is such a vital part of the game left to the end of training as an after thought  ???. We missed 3 set shots in the 3rd quarter on Friday night which the Dees rebounded and scored goals from. If we had kicked them we would have been right back in the game by 3/4 time even though we were playing crap.

Rodan – playing good footy at reserve level.  Chaffey needs a few more games in 2s.

On Joel's replacement – Kel Moore probably to continue on from last week.  Didn’t say who would be bringing in to replace Joel.

Sounds like D-Rod will come in if Terry mentioned him.

Rodan is a superstar...we should be nice to other clubs and give him away for a 3rd rounder ;D

Was more a caller rang up and asked how Rodan was going  Don't know if it means if he will be in the team - more a progress report.
He does need to come in soon - he would be on the chopping block as well if he doesn't get some game time and prove himself.
Hopefully, he gets his chance.

I must say he's been pretty willing to give them a place in the team when we've won.

The 2 bombers are the only guys from losing teams in Terry's team of the week. I wouldn't say Terry would be in a good enough mood to put a Tiger in there lol.

Once again thanks Moi for these great original weekly reports of what Terry says for those of us without foxtel :cheers  :bow.

Terry and Caro's thoughts on the week courtesy of moionaisse:

Collingwood - Tarrant and Johnston - Terry reckons there's two sets of circumstances - players out at 4 o'clock - need to deal with that.  Second, the incident itself and the course that will follow.  He would not be pleased if his players are out there at that time of the morning and putting themselves in that position.  Why is Tarrant treated differently to Johnston by the media.  The profile of the player shouldn't matter and their actions should be treated equally.  No curfew for our players - only there to be broken - gets messy.  Would rather educate and treat them like adults and work it through that way, e.g. Jay Schultz.

Carlton:  Lance Whitnall would be a worthy captain after Kouta.  Re Pagan problem with assistant coaches - all for asst coaches wanting a senior position, as long as it's not his lol.

Coach most likely to go at tend of year - Thompson according to Caro.  He has a one year contract - Terry would be disappointed if he walked away - shown he can get them to a pre-season premiership.  He reckons something broke down over summer with their training regime, and have a list that is young enough to remedy.

Blake Caracella - A good journeyman player - Brisbane, Collingwood, Essendon - he's had a great career.

Spider - won't get a 1st round draft pick - probably high 2nd round pick. Draft too good this year to use on a 31 year old.  Caro thinks he's definitely going to Sydney - Terry thinks North.

Caller says Tarrant overrated and not giving his full potential to the club. Asks if it's a good opportunity to delist him.  Says clubs should have zero tolerance.  Caro says it will never happen, but there is a suggestion/rumour he might be traded.

Caller asks about our thumpings - something we need to continue to deal with getting our heads around.  He said there was no drop off - it was poor from start to finish lol.  A lot of players out, but should be able to rely on them to be in the contest.

cont.

Chris Grant says he'd learned more from Eade in the last 18 mnths than he's learnt in his whole career.  Terry says Rocket would have strained relationships as well.  Terry hasn't got one with Chris but doesn't know how Chris feels.  Not going to be close with all players because of differences of opinion.  He thinks senior players need to be challenged.  When he left the club he said to Smorgon he didn't think it was good for players to go a whole career under one coach.

Saints game - Caro wonders where the planning is - re kicking 16 goals a game, and a fear what happens when Richo goes.  Terry says we might be bottom in relation to scores but we've won 8 games.  We've lost 3 games against sides in best 6.  Only had Brown and Richo available 17 of 32 games. Richo won't go on forever - Patto coming along as a stronger bodied key position player.  Cleve showing talent - couple of years more development. Limbach leading the goalkicking at Coburg and 7 goals this week - he's in the mix for this week.

Re training - Good opportunity to see how the boys train on their own today - can see how hard they're actually working

Re Gasper - won't talk about our list management.  He's probably gone for the season, but will work out at the end of the year the list.

Stafford - with incidents like this there's a message that we're trying to take collisions out of sport.  Every action where there's a collision seems to come under scrutiny from tribunal.  He had no other course of action but to defend himself.  The AFL should let clubs know what they should do in that circumstance.

Raines - he believed it was probably worthy of having a look at.  Principle in the wording that it was intentional.  Andrew never thought he'd be reported - just wanted to hold the guy up.  The Rising Star wasn't the full reason - he's been fantastic.

Caller asks about Rainsey in the middle - Terry says so many out of the backline with injuries.  Yes, he can be a good midfielder, but better letting him settle and getting 50 games under his belt.

Terry's team of the week:

B - D Mundy, C Bruce, H, Shaw

HB - D Ward, M Johnston, J Gram

C -  Montagna, P Bell, M Braun

HF - Hird, Lucas, Murphy

F - A Buchanan, Gehrig, Bradshaw

R - Hille, Goodes, D Kerr

Int - B Kirk, R Hooper, A Didak, B Harvey

Viewer poll:  Does Mooney have right temperament to be captain.

75% No

Caro looked tired tonight - and forgot to wear her bra lol.  Must be conscious of the rumours and didn't look too much at Tezza lol

By "North" he meant of the border.  ;)
I had a double-take when he said it because I thought he meant Kangaroos but as they were cutting away Caro asked him "Brisbane or Sydney" to which TW replied "Sydney".

Yes I thought he meant the Kangaroos too.  Funny there was no mention of Spida going to the Tigers.

Fair enough but getting smashed out of midfield the way we have been in the last 3 games and the opposition forwards getting laced out passes doesn't help our defence no matter who they are. There's only 5 weeks to go and the doggies have a top midfield so give Rainesy a spurt in the centre.

Caro, Tezza and Neale Daniher

Obviously just about Melbourne this segment – sorry.

Dees loss to Carlton – Caro wants to know about Brad Miller and whether he’ll be playing – a few injuries.  Neale said let the game  slip and they got filthy with it.  Can’t dwell on it and just move on to next game against Sydney.

Tezza asks do give credence to some teams playing well against other sides, ie Carlton – they don’t play well at TelstraDome and its surface.  Good kicking team and they kicked 1.5 in the first quarter and a few out on the full.  Dome is a shifting surface and have to look at their style of play.

AFL looking at its surface – everyone has concerns because of hard underneath.  To wear screw-ins get sore – without them, they slip and slide all over the place.

Melbourne injuries – who cares, but for those who like betting – they had a few players who didn’t train.  Robertson, Bruce worries about coming up this week, but probably available following week.

Tezza asks if you have to change your plans when you play Swans.  They’ve got a game plan that’s done okay against them.  He’s obviously not going to give out his plan.

Daniher thinks Matthew Whelan playing well and could make AA.  Their strength though is their even contribution.

Tezza thinks they’re much better prepared for finals than in other years.  Pressure has been the best he’s seen from a Melbourne team.

Pettifer’s fine for abusing umpires – Caro wonders what Pets was on about.  Terry says he speaks about discipline every week – don’t want them missing games sitting in the stands.

Richmond apparently having a board meeting about what they’re offering Aker – Greg admitted he’s met him.  Terry is not going to the board meeting – he thinks any side in the comp would be negligent not to look at what it would cost financially and what it would cost to get the deal done.  We speak to about 20 players and if you get one deal done you’ve done a good job.

Re Gary March's comments - Terry says it was on a principle situation where the President had responded to previous statements by Terry in that we won’t be in that situation and comments he’s made before that there are no easy fixes and not giving away first round draft picks.

Re Mick Malthouse – Christie apparently gave the nod of approval to the report apparently.  Caro says must be some truth to the story - maybe the family are putting pressure on him to give it away for health reasons.

Re Voss – Terry thinks it would be good if plays one more time.

Re Collingwood in finals Tezza says how they went in Adelaide they can compete with anyone.  Need all the team up and running.

Mainly non-Richmond issues tonight sad to say - typing a lot of it, but rest couldnt be bothered lol

Talking about North and how not many supporters turned up last week with their comments about resting players. Terry wants our supporters to continue to front up – they’re still trying to get their players up and running and won’t be putting players under the knife now.

Our disappointing crowd – 36,000 – Caro says she didn’t see him shake Chris Grant's hand.  Terry didn’t speak to him – circumstances of the day.  Disappointed Bulldogs suggested there were still problems in the relationship.  What happened was he was coming across the ground and Chris was doing a TV interview at the time – no opportunity to talk to him.  Nothing more than that.  Thought there was no need to air publicly that there was a problem.  He doesn’t hold any grudges and asked players to shake hands with him if they got an opportunity - which they did.

Caller talks about how young is too young to play footy.  When do we think we’ll be a final 8 contender?  Terry – how long is a piece of string – hard to predict.  If you have a look at development of sides like Geelong and Dogs, Saint, most have taken a 4 or 5 year period.  He thinks we’re in our third year.

Caller says there’s a meeting going on re Thompson at Geelong’s future.  Caro says Costa is ona holiday in Noosa.  Talk about an email going around about stuff on Thompson – DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS, BECAUSE THEY AIN’T SAYING lol
