The Richmond Football Club today announced it had recorded a net profit of $948,586 in 2006.

Richmond CEO, Steven Wright said that the financial and other improvements over the past year came from the following key areas:

* Record membership levels;

* Record sponsorship levels;

* Significantly increased game attendances – ranked 3rd in AFL; and

* Increase in TV viewership of 50% up to 15 million.

Wright noted that “whilst it was a very positive year for the Club, it was important to recognise that significant work is still required. The Club needs to continue to invest further in the football department, undertake the redevelopment of Punt Road Oval, repay debt and start to build revenue earning assets”.

RICHMOND'S climb off the financial canvas has continued, with the club announcing a record net profit of $948,000.

It beat by $20,000 the previous record, which came in the dark years of the Save of Our Skins campaign in 1990, and represents an improvement of $3.14 million in the past two years.

Tigers president Gary March was thrilled with the result, which comes on the back of record membership and sponsorship levels, increased gates and an increase in TV viewers, up 50 per cent to 15 million.

"We believe that the financial improvements made during the 2005-06 period are sustainable," March said.

"We are projecting continued profits over the next few years whilst repaying significant debt."

Don't want to get ahead of myself here, but can you imagine playing a few finals series in a row, what kind of numbers we'll be seeing.

3rd in attendance and we didn't make the 8 and had three 100+ point thrashings.
And you may not think I care for you

You're right wayne. It's amazing we are still a relatively big club despite being crap for 25 years.

All aspects of the Club are finally moving in the same direction and sticking to a long-term strategy. Bring on 2008-9  :gotigers.

I hope we've been able to make some decent inroads into reducing our overdraft  :pray.

What we are competing against off-field  :P.

Despite finishing 13th in 2005 and 15th this year, the Bombers have posted more than $2.4 million profit.

This year's figure was $1,659,349, even allowing for $700,000 in depreciation costs.
