from the Bendigo AdvertiserFormer Sandhurst player Andrew Collins was the other ex-Bendigo Pioneer playing in the game for Richmond.
Collins, also drafted in 2006, started on the bench before playing a mix of on-ball and on the wing.
His debut season with Richmond last year was soured by persistent groin injuries, but Collins moved freely yesterday.
He kicked a goal in the third term, and Wallace says he’s pleased with how Collins is progressing.
‘‘He’s coming along nicely; he didn’t play much football last year after spending most of the year injured,’’ Wallace said.
‘‘And he has missed a fair portion of the pre-season training, which always makes it a lot more difficult, but he is now starting to come to hand and I expect constant improvement from this time onwards.
‘‘He’s a genuine midfielder who I think can be a handy player for us in the future.’’
