I liked a few things Sarge did last night that got the team going again. The shepherd/shirtfront on the city side wing early in the last quarter showed the Lions we weren't just going to lie down.

Plough in EOTT has Schulz down back as his unsung hero for this round and said it was the best he's seen Sarge play at AFL level.

This was as good as I have seen him play for the Club .... his disposal by foot set us up time and time again, ensuring that we were able to maintain possession of the ball against Hawthorn’s zone defence. .... ‘Schulzy’, generally, kicks it as well as any.

The most pleasing aspect of Jay’s game last Sunday was his competitive nature, which I felt was the best I have seen it at senior league level. He would regularly come back and assist our main defenders against the Hawks’ power forwards, which made him an even more valuable player for us.

I agree. Gave us a target up forward in the last quarter which we were sorely missing up until then. Looked dangerous and freed up the other forwards with his presense.

He has become an important asset to our team and tactical game piece for TW.

Seriously though it has been a long season for the youngsters.

Next year most should continue to get better.

I think we are in for an exciting couple of years, as long as we don't stuff up the trades and the draft.

I would look Ports pick #22 for Schultz.

I somewhat doubt they will offer us that - and it means we have pretty much no KPP who are not kids outside Richo & Simmonds with Schultz and Polak gone. However it would give the like of Rance, Hughes & Gourdis a big chance to make the 22.

More so it would give us picks #8, #22, #26, #42 which would be good for a final batch of kids to set up the list for 09 and the future with Pettifer, Tivs, Hyde etc. going.

If Polak's accident had never happened then Sarge could've been a big chance to be traded. But he looks safe with Polly's future up in the air and our lack of KPPs on our list.

I dont believe he is, we honestly would not have gone to the trouble of signing him last week if that was our intent, sarge gives us a fair amount of flexibility...I wouldnt get interested unless it was a top 15 pick, which is not likely/..they can get stuffed

This time last year many on here lamented yours truly included as to why we did not take Ports pick 28 for Schulz and were even more horrified to see that we took Jordy at pick 19. I just found it a little perplexing we signed 10 players a week before trade week to in essence possibly keep other clubs from showing interest in our players or conversely give us the opportunity to lay them on the table.
I agree Polak's injury has worked in Sarge's favour and we are in need of talls so he will be retained. I don't think he will be traded unless we get an offer too good to refuse.
