Hoses and trigger nozzles
« on: February 11, 2007, 05:40:22 PM »
For the water restrictions we changed the nozzle on our hose from the old trusty common one to one of these trigger nozzles. The problem we are finding is when you turn the tap on and still have the trigger off the pressure builds up quickly in the hose until the hose pops out of its connector attachment drenching you and wasting water everywhere  :banghead.  Is anyone else having this problem? :help

We can't use hoses up here - only buckets or watering cans and only on odds/evens days.

We have restrictions as well but not as bad as Julz. We can use a hose on the garden only 3 days a week and we use a trigger. Our water pressure is massive at the moment (about 1400Kpa) due to a new estate being built near our house. We use plastic fittings and have no problems.
I'll find out the brand MT and let you know.

Cheers tiga.

You've got the worse restrictions Julz. Down here it is down to watering two days a week. We only have a small garden due to the front and back yards being mostly paved and the plants are mostly succulants so the garden is still in pretty good nick.

They are still arguing about recycled water.  Yeah Toowoomba is pretty bad and so is Brisbane (dam levels average 23 per cent).  The Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast dams are at a healthy 76 per cent each but the whole of the South East of Queensland is on Level 4 restrictions which means, for me, I can only water my garden by bucket or watering can between the hours of 4-8am and 4-8pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Question. Why should people in the Gold Coast region have water restrictions when there water supply is at 76 %
Have relatives up at Broadbeach and its a big issue up there with them having watering restrictions.
Also they have had over 125mm in the past 24 hours, so much for the motto, beautiful one day, glorious the next :lol

Yes it seems that the Gold and Sunny Coasts cop all the rain and Brissie gets left out.  As for the restrictions, all the local councils in SE Qld got together to support each other.  So it's really Brissie and Toowoomba's fault we have to also comply with these restrictions.  I think they are trying to build a pipeline from Sunny Coast to help relieve Bris.  It has been great for the gardens getting all the rain, however, puts a dampener (literally) on hubby's work.

I have just finshed watering my garden with my Gardenia trigger nozzle.

Its a beauty MT, left it on the ground for about 5 mins and it hardly even leaked.

I also recently piped my washing machine out onto our back grass, what a move!!!!

Back yard is in magical condition and i am having to cut it everyweek. I actually have too much water running out there so i am going to pipe it to the front lawn also and alternate and hopefully have all green lawns  :thumbsup to Grey Water
