Yeah or Neah - 5. Brad Ottens
« on: July 12, 2004, 02:10:56 AM »
As the season is now about judging who stays or goes at the end of the year, I thought we might have a look at each player who is on a knife's edge and get opinions until the end of the season.

What should happen to Otto - be re-signed or let go - and why?

Maybe keep, as he would probably improve a little under a new coach together with some specific ruck coaching tactics. But if there is a real good ruck prospect in the draft I say catcha later Nottens.

Let go.
After watching him get towelled up by Matthew Allan of all people, let him go.
Doesnt want to do the hard yards and run down in defence to support his teams mates, just walked down the ground and couldnt give a poo.
How many stupid frees did he give away on Saturday ? I was counting on my toes lol
Remember that Allan was picked up for next to nothing Pre-Season and  we glorify the supposing Super Stars.
Trade him and get soemone witha bit of grunt.
We have tooo many players that roll over and die when we are 2 goals down or more. ;)

I would keep.

I think with a new coach coming on board it is worth giving him another contract but 2005 would be make or break. Agree he needs more mongrel and perhaps a Wallace could bring the mongrel out if it is there.

I would still look at taking a ruckman in the draft if there is one available as a long term prospect.

Keep unless offered a first round selection.
I have always liked Otto, but this season he hasn't imposed himself at all and needs to find a more aggressive edge to further his game.
Drink,Drugs and Shagging models.
The rest l just wasted.

Keep on a reduced salary, and draft a young ruck prospect for the future.
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

I would keep Otto. I believe his development has been stifled under the present regime, putting him in the ruck and getting firstly Stewart Loewe then this year noone to be his ruck coach  :o. I reckon Otto is more a CHF anyway and should be used as a second change ruckman. Problem we have is our other ruckman Staff and Marsh are nearing or are at the end of their footy careers  :-\.

I would ask him what he wants to do. If he wants to leave then let him be....

If he wants to stay then keep him and let him prosper under a new coach (and a new midfield coach).

Ask him to take a substantial pay cut and if he refuses trade him.

Trade him to the crows for Biglands and their first pick.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?
