Tigers face setbacks over Kingsley, Hall
Caroline Wilson
The Age
March 1, 2007

RICHMOND'S horror pre-season continued yesterday with the revelation that two potential key-position players in Kent Kingsley and Ray Hall were both facing up to eight weeks on the sidelines.

Kingsley, recruited from Geelong at the end of 2006 and who enjoyed a promising start with the club in summer training, faces surgery early next week for a problem ankle hurt during the Tigers' practice match in Cranbourne last month.

Hall will have surgery on a hip flexor. Hall, 26, has had an injury-prone few years and will go under the knife this week over his continuing groin problem. According to football boss Paul Armstrong, he will not resume running for at least a week after the surgery.

The bad news for Richmond followed the shattering revelation that star midfielder and former club champion Mark Coughlan would miss another season following serious knee surgery.

Kingsley, who did not line up against his old team the Cats on Sunday, will learn tomorrow whether he faces surgery as expected. His setback will prove a blow to the Tigers, who had hoped the experienced forward would prove a bonus for the club in attack, particularly at smaller grounds such as Telstra Dome.

The injured Troy Simmonds, who starred in the ruck for Richmond last season, remains several weeks away and the loss of Hall and Kingsley has also followed the club's disappointing defeat by Geelong.

Am not surprised by the amount of injuries we have. Posters think I am negatative but I beleive the NAB 15 incentive is a waste of time and therefore we train way too hard when not necessary. When you train that hard, something has to give, footballers are not robots.
Look at it this way, we have basically played one competitive game and we have more injuries that any other club. ::)
Its going to be a long year!

Bloody great.

We are already low on talls and now these two are gone for at least the first 4 rounds it seems.

I think we're in trouble already.

Media release announced on SEN - both have been done and should be ok to go in 4 - 6 weeks.

Hall will be running in a week.

Thanks for that CUB  :cheers.

You'd still reckon it'll take a few weeks more on top of the 6 weeks before they are fit again to play. Razor is really only back-up nowdays but Kingsley would've been a handy foil for Richo.

the nab 15 was a f good idea and all the players will benefit in the long run, who cares about the short term, but their fitness will be better for it long term!
also it keeps competive spirit going

Injured Richmond duo Ray Hall and Kent Kingsley have both had successful surgeries in the last 24 hours and are expected back in 4-6 weeks.

Hall, who had a fascia release in his hip, is expected to be back running in 7-10 days, while former Cat, Kingsley had tendon repair work done to his ankle.

Surgery for Tiger duo
By Martin Boulton
The Age
March 3, 2007

Richmond's difficult start to 2007 worsened yesterday when two key-position players, Ray Hall and Kent Kingsley, tripped off to hospital for surgery. Neither will be available until after round one.

Hall had a fascia release on a hip - a procedure done on the opposite hip three years ago. He is tipped to be running again within a fortnight and will miss up to six weeks.

Kingsley jarred an ankle in a practice game at Cranbourne two weeks ago. This week he had minor surgery on damaged tendon.

The former Cat is also expected to miss up to six weeks and will need to wear a modified boot.

"It's not ideal timing but he should be back playing by round three or four," Richmond's football operations manager Paul Armstrong said. "It's a pity because he was training well."
