The other thing was time and time again Jack and Sarge were both flying for the same ball so Geelong had plenty of numbers at the contest and the fall of the ball.

Jack was horrible yesterday. Lonergan wore him like a glove and then Playfair did. Nothing went his way, everything was either over his head or at his feet.  :banghead :banghead

but I have no doubt he will learn from this

BTW that Geelong defender with the mop top, no. 50 i think, was superb

Read the play beautifully, had a cool head under pressure and kicked beautifully and ACCURATELY

should definitely have a look at him at least in the rookie draft

Scott Thompson (he who didn't seem to have an opponent) - one of only 4 VFL listed players who played yesterday

DOB: 9/5/1986  - 192cm  - 88kgs from South Barwon

And yes Jack had a shocker and he wasn't alone. He will learn and will be better for it - no doubt about it

Brian Royal's RFC player review

Jack Riewoldt

Jack’s a really exciting young fella and good to have around the club. Played eight games this year and again, like Daniel Connors and Shane Edwards, wouldn’t have expected to play that many games this year. It was terrific for him to get games under his belt and get a feel for what it’s going to be like in the future, because he’s going to be a very exciting player for the club.

What are your expectations for Jack this year and what would be a good year for him?

id like to see jack play 15+ games this seasonwith a return of around 25+ goals. But we have to remember he is only a 2nd year KPP but there is something special about this kid.
Thoughts?

Riewoldt is right now looking like an enthusiastic, slowish, 192cm flanker who reads the game pretty well. That's ok as it's still early days..

Unfortunately though I'm not convinced about him ever making it as key forward which was my big hope when he was drafted. :-\

However something tells me he'd make a pretty handy CHB.
He has good skills and reads the play. Ideal traits IMO, just needs to bulk up.

Personally I'd play him as the third tall in defence for much of this year and see how he goes with a view of moving him into CHB in a year or two. I like him better in that role than the likes of McGuane.

Could be our next Joel Bowden at the very least.

Jack needs to get his fitness up to play AFL and apart from doing the work over preseason he can only do that by playing games at AFL level. He's got the footy smarts and skills and is too good for VFL level. It was good for him to play the last 6 games in a row (kicking 7 goals) especially when the side was playing a better brand of footy and won a couple of games. Agree 08, doubling the amount of games he played last year would be a good return in his 2nd year.

11+ games, and a nomination for the Rising Star award. A top 10 finish in the NAB RS would indicate that he had some impact on some of the games that he played, so I reckon that would be a solid 2nd year effort for a KPP.

Agree with other sentiments that he may end up in defense, however he is a natural footballer so he should be given a few years to put on some weight and find his feet as a KPP.

This is the guy I am hoping will take the big step foward this year. Each year somebody steps up and makes huge progress (Foley last year) and this year I think it will be Jack or Tambo. I am not saying he will have a Foley type year just he will be (I hope) the one to standout as the improver.
