I got to see a commercial-ridden replay of the game.
The players who stood out for me were:
3. Hartigan – The Little General (with the big Heart)
2. Jackson
1. Moore
They weren’t necessarily the most effective or best, but they showed some real promise.
Especially Hartigan. He seemed to get better as the game went on and his confidence and enthusiasm never seemed to wane.
As has been mentioned, Jackson looked pretty comfortable out there.
Kel Moore still looks pretty raw, but did some good things.
Seemed like the young players didn’t come on and off as has been the case in the past. They really seemed to get a good go.
I know Richo should get votes for his 6 goals, but when you are the forward half, I guess you’re going to get the opportunity to kick them. Could understand if he was frustrated with the delivery, but he seemed to do no better when he was up the ground and kicking forward.
Bowden gets lots of kicks, but very little he does seems to stand out. I mark him pretty hard and maybe I should open my other eye, but …
You can disregard my votes if you like one-eyed, coz that’s not how the voting is supposed to work, but I look for players who add some spark, life and enthusiasm to the team, because that’s what we sadly lack. And the efforts of experienced players to get possessions at will seems to get us nowhere, week after week.
It would mean more if their efforts inspired those around them to build some momentum, but I guess some of them have just been in the Richmond system too long for that to happen.
