Just on the team it's interesting we've gone with pace along the wings with Lids and Edwards. Sugar named on a HFF.

Absolute garbage!

Armstrong also said Kingsley would come in "if" Richo doesn't play. Mark Robinson had a chuckle when Armstrong called him "very perceptive" for spotting Kingsley as a emergency. Robbo also watched last week's Coburg game and loved what Jack did.

See Jack's post.

The only reason Polo would play is because he's a tough bugger who is has no fear nor sense of self-preservation.

There is absolutely no way Richo will play this week with a fractured eye socket. They are nasty

Joel didn't miss a game when he did his cheekbone didn't he?

Bomber fans think Pev or Camporeale might be doubtful and Hislop might debut.

Stupid stunt picking Richo ::)
He who takes anyone for a fool is a fool unto himself!

so how does one recognise a fool then ?
Begins every sentence with "Yeah Nah"  ;D

Very funny and true MT :lol :lol :lol

Anyway back to Sunday's game would have loved to have seen Cleve get another run especially on the G. One bad game and he gets dropped I thought he was serviceable in the games we played before the Power.

Flea said tonight that the swelling around Richo's eye has gone down and they'll see how he gets through training tomorrow. The bloke that comes on SEN with the match odds reckons Richo will play  ???.

Tigers give Richo a chance to play
Rohan Connolly | May 25, 2007 | The Age

RICHMOND sprang a big selection shock last night when it named injured spearhead Matthew Richardson in its team for tomorrow night's "Dreamtime" game against Essendon at the MCG.

The veteran full-forward will be given an opportunity to train at the the Tigers' final session this afternoon, despite a fractured eye socket, broken nose and lacerated forehead, which had him expected to miss a minimum of two weeks.

Though still considered unlikely to play, Richardson's determination forced the Tigers to at least give him a chance, Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong said last night.

"It will be one of those ones where the doctors will say to him, 'This is the risk', then it's up to him to see how he feels and whether he wants to put his hand up to play or not," Armstrong said. "He's pretty tough, 'Richo'.

"He hasn't trained with the group, but he loves the Dreamtime game, and wants to be given the opportunity to at least try to train tomorrow, so we'll do that, and make an assessment then."

Richardson's likely replacement in the selected side is Kent Kingsley, named as an emergency, who kicked five goals for Coburg in the VFL last week. The former Geelong key forward is still to make his senior debut with the Tigers.

Jack Riewoldt has been picked for his debut. The cousin of St Kilda star Nick Riewoldt was selected at the expense of Jay Schulz.

Armstrong said Richmond would not risk Richardson, who kicked nine goals in his previous outing against Essendon late last season, if club doctor Greg Hickey decided there was any risk of further damage. "He's genuinely keen to play, but he understands what he has to do tomorrow to get through, to be able to train with the rest of the group and pull up OK and feel no after-effects," he said. "If there was too high a risk of further damage, you'd think you'd err on the side of caution."

In the unlikely event he does line up, Richardson will not wear any added facial protection. "I don't know if there's anything designed that would specifically help, that so that will be part of the decision as well," Armstrong said.

Essendon assistant coach Gary O'Donnell said last night the Bombers' plans wouldn't be thrown out should the Tiger play.

"Somebody's got to play in that role. One of our key backs has got to play one of their key backs, whether it's Richo or Kent Kingsley," he said. "We just worry about what we can control."

Kingsley set to replace Richo (Herald-Sun)

Kingsley set to replace Richardson
25 May 2007   Herald-Sun

ONLY a Matthew Richardson miracle will prevent former Cat Kent Kingsley from making his debut for Richmond at the MCG tomorrow night.

The Tigers have named Richardson but he'd have to defy medical science to line-up given he suffered a broken nose, a fractured eye socket and 13 stitches in a gash above his eye against Adelaide last week.

Kingsley, who arrived at Punt Rd this year after kicking 227 goals in 110 games with Geelong, has been named as an emergency along with midfielders Matthew White and Chris Hyde.

Interestingly, the Tigers elected not to put full-forward Jay Schulz, who was axed in favour of debutant Jack Riewoldt, on the emergency list.

Richmond football operations manager Paul Armstrong admitted last night the odds of Richardson playing were slim but they had to keep the door open.

"We haven't seen him on the track yet," Armstrong said.

"We train tomorrow (Friday) and we'll see what he's like. He's a tough man, Richo."

Earlier in the week the Tigers had Richardson missing between two to three weeks with the serious facial injuries.

Essendon hasn't made any changes from the side which defeated Brisbane last week but, given their history, one of the emergencies - Mark Bolton, Kepler Bradley and Tom Hislop - is likely to get a late call-up.
