Yep...didn't even see him for most of the game...He's retiring though...deserves another token trophy  :banghead :banghead :banghead
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

i don't think he was BOG, however it's hard to think of a player that was better than him, 10 players could've won it.

Even Richo was bloody better, not to mention those Bull already has.

They gave it to Hird for that tackle near the end. Essendon won so they gave it to him.

How about his speech - "We know how Richmond feels". Yep sure you do James  :chuck.

I'm getting sympathy texts from Essendon supporters, they are not being returned in kind.

I thought Lucas should have got it. All subjective. I was pretty surprised Hird got it. Might have scraped into the top dozen.

Thought that Adam McPhee was EASILY best on ground.
His contested marks were a highlight.
Played both ends of ground. excellent game.

Essendon supporters on the Richmond Board at Big Footy couldn't believe that Hird got BOG.  I would have picked Stanton or McPhee over Hird.  But then a Richmond player probably would have been more deserving.  Just goes to show that James Hird really is the Golden Boy.  What a joke!!  Even the media were surprised Hird got it.

Er the tackle where he rode Meyer into the ground via his back  ::)

Was listening to SEN driving home some bloke phoned up and gave Jimmy ther best spray for the above comment.

Jimmy has NO IDEA who we feel.

He has been absolutely blessed in his career to have played finals consistently, play in GF. He has sooked when they haven't won. Heck he believes they are a top 4 side this year.

Jimmy maybe a champion player but I'd like to know how he would have coped if he really had to put up with what with we have for the last 25 years.

Jimmy you have NO IDEA
