Anyone know what's the go on old footage - is it the AFL's, Telstra's, Channel 7, whoever?
I'm talking VFL coverage?
Ch 7 would have at least some ownership of it. Even when they didn't have the tv rights they were still showing highlights of old games. Not sure about about the AFL. You'd think they'd have ownership with the tv networks. You would have to check the copyright notice at the start of one of those "name a game" videos/dvds.
Telstra in conjunction with the AFL would only have copyright over material on the AFL and club websites. That's what they paid $60m for. Streaming footage of full games plus a search function for watching streamed highlights of goals, marks, tackles, etc available only
to their Bigpond customers.
