Summary

* We identified our future with those 5 (Tambo, Patto, Casserly, Hughes and McGuane) and others. So we moved quickly to secure their longer term future. Showed our confidence in and to Cass by signing him up despite no yet playing a senior game due to injuries.

Tambo - 3 years
Patto, Casserly, Hughes - 2 years
McGuane - 1 year

* White, Thursty, Lids, Foley, Raines - all signed up already so that's it for the moment. Talk to Browny and the remaining guys at the end of the season.

* Browny is a evervescent character. His preseason training was outstanding pace, he got all his pace back. Disappointing he developed a hot-spot. We need his attitude in the rooms as much on the field. Played a couple of games at Coburg and trained strongly last month pain-free. Back to his best and back to his best character too.

* We stayed in Perth a couple of extra days during the break. Went to the beach. The boys who played for Coburg went down to Sorrento. Gave them all a couple of days break to freshen up as a normal footy week involves 6 days of training.

* On Simmo - we may have erred bringing Simmo back in round 3 as the pain returned. Been more cautious this time and gave him longer to recover. First game back will be this weekend for Coburg against North Ballarat.

I'm surprised Cass got 2 years given he hasn't debuted yet. The Club obviously rates him very highly despite his body breaking down everytime he's close to making his debut. The other deals seem spot on IMO.

I just had a read through Wiseby's Casserley file, and the only real query on him was attitude and mentality. If they get that right, then it sounds like we could have a steal.

Funny how McGuane was considered to be improved enough to give Gaspar the flick, but is only good enough to get a one year deal!

I think they were also fairly confident about Thursty returning in Gas' case. Gas' time was up.

As for Cass, he needs a injury-free run more than anything else.
