Might be in trouble for that tackle on wines.
Kane Cornes and Riley Beveridge want to give Cotch a week for it  ::).

Hmmm

This is tough one. I reckon he is in trouble because an arm was pinned in the tackle

A week? Not sure about that

Wines got up and played on, no issue. Not our fault he didn't play well  ;D

I have no issue with the tackle. Looked to be perfect and he didn't spin him with much force, actually he tackled with care for the player.

The head didn’t appear to make solid contact with the ground, so what would the report be based on
it seems Cornes has got some sort of obsession with potting Richmond players particularly after port loses to richmond

Maybe a fine.

Sling action not required for suspension but I just don't think there was any malice in it and the impact wasn't too bad.

“THE AFL HATE THAT”: IS COTCHIN IN MRO TROUBLE FOR SLING TACKLE?

Lachlan Geleit
SEN
7 August 2022

Richmond midfielder Trent Cotchin is set to come under MRO scrutiny for a dangerous tackle on Ollie Wines in Saturday’s win against Port Adelaide.

Early in the clash Wines was sent off the field for a concussion test after he was tackled by Cotchin, with the back of his head hitting the Adelaide Oval surface.

While Wines returned to the field after being cleared of concussion, Power great Kane Cornes believes Cotchin will receive a one-week suspension based on previous incidents and the optics of the sling tackle

“I think he’ll get a week,” Cornes said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.

“We’ve seen (Will) Hayes get two weeks (for a similar action), I know the player (Sam) Menegola was concussed and Ollie Wines was checked off, but the AFL hate that action.

“I understand that (Wines wasn’t concussed), but you can’t be slinging a player who’s got one arm into the ground and smashing their head on the ground.”

Although Wines wasn’t injured in the tackle, Cornes believes the AFL will send a message as the Port Adelaide star was defenceless with one of his arms pinned.

“We’ll see, I believe that’s one week,” Cornes said.

“It won’t be the worst thing for Trent Cotchin to have a week off.

“The AFL don’t want to see this when a player is defenceless, it doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not.”

Match Review Officer Michael Christian will assess Saturday’s Round 21 incidents on Sunday with any decision to be released later this evening by the AFL.

Oliver Wines is a bull and to get him down being smaller you have to give it everything or else he just waltzes thru the tackle.

This is whats wrong with the game no intent no malice just a footy incident in fact a damn good effective tackle and people want to rub players out for it.

Cotchin can play on in 2023

The former Richmond skipper has been in vintage touch of late, but is out of contract at the end of the season. A three-time premiership captain can probably write their own end to their career, but the form and hunger Cotchin has shown – particularly against Port Adelaide on Saturday night – should mean there are few qualms about going around again if he wants. Cotchin had 31 disposals, 19 pressure acts, 17 contested possessions and six tackles against the Power, and is now averaging 25.5 disposals in the month since returning from a broken collarbone. - Sarah Black

Just on this. We are in a world of pain when so much is relied upon on a 33 yo with no kids coming thru to take over his role.
Atm we want to hope his body can hold out and failing that find some real help in a similar role for him.

With Caddy, Lambert and hopefully Edwards moving on we should be able to target a decent mid
